The uncle obviously tried, and rebuilding neuropathways is hard when you're older (ask me how I know 😬). I hope your cousin felt supported and loved.

My grandmother allegedly went through everyone's names always, regardless of who she was trying to talk to. Including the dog.

2 humans and the dog had names that start with D. My uncle became D'Randy. Which is objectively hilarious.

Same here. My grandma used to mix in her children, grandchildren and dogs’ names when trying to call one of us!

We call all of our cats "cat". Easier. Otherwise I mix them up and call them "cladaphnefrey" (Clara, Daphne, Gallifrey)

Absolutely, I remember my cousin laughing, saying, “It’s like a whole bunch of Pride flags sprouted up in the yard.” Not sure about my uncle, but my aunty is much better with my cousin’s pronouns now.
