Everybody keeps bringing up "the game" as proof the Ruker couldnt resist the ring, but I dont think they're the same thing. *No one* can resist the game except Data, and that only because hes not organic. The game cant be resisted because it physically reprograms a person's brain.

The One Ring is different. It doesnt directly take control of people and physically change their brain pathways. Its a sort of spiritual thing. It temps them into giving it to a corruption of their souls by appealing to their desires for power.

If you havent guessed it by now I absolutely love Riker. Lol. I think he is possibly the beat example of non-toxic masculinity to date. He's still very traditionally masculine, and *very* horny, lol, but with none of the toxic traits. And that goes for Jonathan Frakes, the actor that plays him, too!

Kinda think he and Crusher are the best examples of what Trek did well, they didn’t need a little backstory (although they got it occasionally) all you needed was for them to show up tell data to turn off his internal chronometer and you knew that’s exactly how they’d act!
