The fact that someone like Chris- who has multiple publications, as well as popular trade books, and a proven record of public engagement work, on top of all the teaching experience- is having to leave academia shows that academia is broken.

So I think the time has come for me to be a little bit more transparent about something. I've not been hugely forthcoming about it for various reasons (some of which I'll explain below) but it is probably time to be a bit more upfront: I left / crashed out of academia in June last year 1/ 🗃️
