Also, everyone knew exactly what sort of person Adams was when he ran. New Yorkers still voted for him.

It is an important thing for her to do BECAUSE if she doesn't, the FOTUS will have a puppet in Adams who is always going to do his bidding or the charges will be refiled. By removing Adams, she will be setting him free of being strong armed by a felon and his mobsters.
