If you really believe that we're going to be descending into some Civil War (the 2024 movie)-style chaos, the biggest bang-for-your-buck investment at this moment might be a road atlas.

It just makes sense to have printed atlases for each car, also Gazeteers, and detailed maps of the states surrounding us & all the way to Canada. I love this country, but damn.
I've said the same. Think about how dependent you are on the directions in your phone! On a whim Elon can switch it off. Then how would you find anything? Being a pre-internet being I have a functioning knowledge of the interstate highway system. Could you get yourself from, say, Houston to Chicago?
My colleague just asked about mine when he saw it in my trunk and I was like, everyone should have one and roads don't change that fast so it being from 2014 isn't the worst but I'm getting a new one now 100%
One for the whole US plus topographical ones for your state and neighboring states states. And learn how to use an orienteering compass. Going to need it regardless of how a collapse happens.
I would also recommend everyone seek out medical training like stop the bleed or other more advanced training like EMT-B or wilderness first responder training. It's so much easier to take a life then it is to save one, but helping each other is what we should be focused on.
Those are good to have on hand. Building up comprehensive medical kits and a home "hospital kit" should be at the top of everyones priorities right now. Having your own medical training is super important in a failing state.
The book "Where there is no Doctor" is about to become necessary reading for every household as our medical system collapses. Also Jase Medical is an online pharmacy that will sell you actual antibiotics and other medications for "adventures" or "missions trips".
When you call the movie civil war and the trailers show battle, yet the movie just follows around photo journalists where there isn’t even any action going on, yeah pretty crazy. Lame Hollywood for Hollywood flick.
Who was who in that stupid movie? We were supposed to assume that Nick Offerman's president was a bad guy, but in what context? And why were Texas and California aligned?!
It was more about the journalistic drive for theperfect image and perfect story then any commentary on what the combatants were doing, the closest to commentary was the NJ? compound that was straight up killing all foreignors
I would argue mass killers like the Buffalo and El Paso shooters, who left behind manifestos using Trump and Carlson rhetoric verbatim, was the opening salve. Pardons of violent criminals sends a message. The shoe drop I fear is these pro-Trump militias carrying out targeted assassinations.
You have Enrique Tarrio and others outright saying they are going to "go after" the people who prosecuted them. He's not in the government. What can he do but commit political violence?
Nah, it’ll be the Russians. Turns out the Chinese are really sweet actually. If it’s us against them, I hope they win. I’ve already started learning Mandarin. 😅

We're not going to have a war, what's left of the US won't be able to finance a war.

I kinda doubt GPS satellites would go offline, but maybe…
