The United States government urgently needs a coherent social media strategy that involves posting on multiple platforms for every government agency so it never again is up against the wall held hostage by a mala fide Apartheid-American who got rich off the very government he daily pillories.
Love the way the article describes Musk's infantile responses as "cutting". And the way they conveniently forget that he has happily censored users at the bidding of tyrannical regimes (and given up their details as well, the utter c*nt).
Yeah, all his talk of the digital public square rings pretty hollow when none of his blatant lies and deceitful innuendo get a community note. Like… is the account elonmusk treated differently by the platform? It very much appears so.
I'll just say that when a media company like Fortune uses a photo of a billionaire that looks like a paparazzi shot of a "celebrity caught without makeup", it's not a sign that person is still in official favor.
Lately I've learned that the more someone has money, the more morally corrupt they are. Every person or business without conscience and causing most destruction all over the world: Musk, Trump, Putin, Orpo, Shell, Exxon Mobil, Stora Enso etc. All are filthy rich, selfish wastes of space and air.
The entire premise of living in a free republic is that Musk should have *exactly* the same amount of influence on the government as you or I do. You get the 1 vote, and you get to petition your reps exactly the way the rest of us do. That's what liberal democracy aspires to be. That's it, folks.
Anything else is anti-democratic, and deeply un-American. If he doesn't want to assimilate to this country and its customs he can relinquish *his* citizenship. Cause I'm not giving up mine.
it's alright! it's just that I thought you thought we speak spanish (a lot of people around the world are under that impression). please know your intention and sentiment are acknowledged and appreciated 🥹🥹
I think Castro once said of freedom of the press, and i'm very much paraphrasing: "No, if you want to promote capitalism, classism, racism, sexism, etc. over our airwaves, then there is no freedom of the press for you, and that's okay."
Like, it is entirely worrisome that a judge is going after an entire company like what's happening.
That being said, I'm perfectly okay with it being Elon Musk to have to slog it out. Because he's gonna do it as dumb as possible and somehow make things worse for himself.
Why, though? Twitter needs a representative in Brazil to be allowed to operate, and they don't have it, so they're not allowed to operate. What would be the alternative?
Better legal minds than me have discussed the various issues surrounding this. None of it is my purview at all, so I'm just sitting back with popcorn watching Elon slam his dick in a door.
Short answer, it's more nuanced than we'd like, but international situations usually are.

(We could, if we wanted to - the FCC had a lot more power even 40 years ago, for example, but then regulatory capture took hold.)
making the Brazilian community mosey over to bluesky made the site so much more bearable after the summer of discourses we've had
