"Voters were more likely to approve of President Trump’s job performance if they had not been following some of the major news stories of his first 100 days in office, a recent New York Times/Siena College poll found."

Two things here: News needs to be available to people. Note the access to free content on the right in comparison to the paywall on objective journalism.
And what about the people who followed the news and still support this. A function of where they get information?
NYT is one of the worst offenders of lying propaganda. So of course if you believed their lies, you wouldn't know how successful Trump's first 100 days were.
I’m amazed how many people have absolutely no idea what is going on. They don’t watch and any news or read anything. They are just in their own little world and they think nothing has changed and everything is fine. Totally ignorant to the world outside their little box.
Of those who have not heard of the cases, there are the ones who do not follow news at all and there are the ones who follow mostly right wing channels. Wonder what the percentages are.
I think there may be a lurking variable here—those more likely to have heard of the case (i.e., those who keep up with current events) are more likely to hold liberal views.
I’m just dumbass who got a history degree 30 years ago, so what do I know, but I’ve been saying to the @democrats.org, @kenmartin.bsky.social and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, et al, that it seems like a good idea to go big and invest in a presidential campaign-style 24/7/365 online comms operation
that cranks out positive narratives about Dems and shows them talking like normal humans and talking *with* (not at) normal people about their concerns, and at the same time, cranks out negative narratives about MAGA ineptitude, of course especially focused on Trump and complicit do-nothing Congress
No, we won’t be able to build enough alternative, left and center-left news media / social media networks fast enough to equally compete at scale with right wing propagandists. So, we have to think creatively and strategically beyond carpet-bombing swing states with TV ads in even-numbered years.
This reasoning existed throughout the election: ‘Trump will be checked and he won’t get a chance to do everything he is saying he’ll do.’ These guys will hold on to this bs because they don’t want to admit a wrong choice. It’s not about intelligence so much as it is about their ego.
It's almost like people choose to forget everything he fucked up during his first term, when he DIDN'T have Putin directing his every move so blatantly.
Compromised, blackmailed, senile narcissists DON'T BACK DOWN. There's NOTHING he won't torch if Putin tells him to.
I wonder when will reality get to these folks. I mean, reality is as it is. But Trump and right wing vehicles will continue manipulating these ppl (denying consequences, blaming everything on Biden), and they’ll remain in apathy or ease into manipulation so long as they don’t have to admit a wrong.
Sadly, I think it can only happen as they experience pain caused by him. Having said that, they didn’t learn when more republicans than democrats died of covid. I have seen about 1/4 of the trump flags near me come down. A few are figuring out they are being scammed. I think when the diehard’s
flags come down it’ll be a sign they finally have been personnally hurt. Reading that these people are the least likely to get any news scares me. They’re the ones whose beliefs come from FB memes.
Also, regarding reality, trump has a reality all his own. His cult lives in that alternate reality he makes. Again, if they get no real news, they get no differing data.
This is the scariest part because the ppl behind Trump know *all* of this. Extremists know they need unchecked right wing speech in social media (and controlled opposition). They brought in Elon and Zuck. Grok has been manipulated (this is public now) to be “skeptical of mainstream narratives.”
Actually I’ve met people who are completely happy to just ignore “politics”. They say it almost proudly. They won’t notice what’s going on until someone they know gets grabbed by ICE.
Voters quit paying attention when they think its pointless. Like, for instance, if anytime a candidate comes along and tries to help people, they get eviscerated from the right by the New York Fucking Times.
Democrats are dying on the hill of saving criminals over Americans. Has NOTHING to do with race. In fact, it's Democrats who are racists as evident in everything they say. Like your post
"have heard about" is doing a lot of work. If they're not actively getting news from credible sources they just hear their dumb uncle say he's a terrorist and see the fox news clip he posted on Facebook or whatever. "Have heard about" ≠ knows the tattoos weren't actually MS-13 tattoos for example
Somebody’s still got to report the news. The slant in headlines and choice of coverage sucks and it’s a chore to see through it, but writing off NYT, WaPo, and other sources of solid reporting only makes room for propagandists.
Supporting local news is important. But not many papers have the resources to cover what's happening in Washington and across the country or internationally. The Globe does have a Washington reporter but it also uses a lot of NY Times stories.
Makes sense tbh. Once you know what’s really going on, you are more likely to disapprove of this clown show.
Like my instagram story archive is now filled with hundreds of stories that are really bad about Trump. Yet most people haven’t seen those headlines. Journalism is important.
In other words, the brain dead zombie MAGAts think he’s doing a great job. How unsurprising! But even they are going to be touched in unpleasant ways by this regime that holds them in as much contempt as it does the rest of us.

A constant stream of false info from Fox/Sinclair lies at the heart of his support.
“It will work out. He’ll back down. See- he’s already backed off tariffs when he saw how unpopular they were with his base.”
“That won’t happen here. That won’t happen to us.”
This intelligent man saying absolute 💩 🤡 to me with a straight face.
Compromised, blackmailed, senile narcissists DON'T BACK DOWN. There's NOTHING he won't torch if Putin tells him to.
I'd rather go to places like the Globe, the Inquirer, the Journal-constitution instead of continuing to support superstars with feet of clay.
Ironically, editors at NYT are among the worst.
