Mainly as a DMM but I will use the scope mode mainly when I'm just working on something like a CRT with just one camera. I use the scope a lot more when I'm not making a video. The USB scope works much better for demonstration purposes in video.

I was looking for local(-ish) suppliers for these Zoyi devices a bit ago but didn't find any. This post made me check again for this model and this time I actually found a shop in EU that had it with reasonable price. So my C64 might finally get the diagnosis it needs for repairs 👍

I just found a handheld 4 channel oscilloscope/meter/auto tool at the thrift store yesterday. It runs on msdos from a rom with the software on a pcmcia card! It has 6 nicad cells and the manual says it would run for a few hours and trickle charge in 18h.

It’s amazing how far we have come!!

Indeed! This is under $80 shipped and it's shockingly good. I'm sure any portable scopes from the 90s or early 2000s were super duper expensive.... And of course not great either.

I bought this same unit after seeing it in action on your videos! The only thing that bugs me is the screen turns off way too quickly. If you know a way to stop it from doing that other than having to press a button all the time, I'm all ears!!

My own experience with inexpensive scopes is that the real weak spot is the stock probes. They're so bad they make the scope much worse than it actually is.

I would defer to those smarter than me for that -- I use the probes that came with my Rigol scope. I gave the cheap scope away to someone more in need when I was given the Rigol.

Auto off and screen sleep were both disabled. The screen backlight was set to 80% which is where I always have it set. I'm running firmware 1.4.2 (or whatever the latest version is as of Feb 2025)

It just sat there on and in continuity mode the entire time.

3. It's isolated

5. It's cheap and rugged.

Indeed, not having to look up is huge. You can just place it right next to whatever you're working on. None of the reviews I saw on it ever did a run down test showing the actual life. I assumed it would be a few hours... But real world use told me it has to be a lot longer.

I got one of these this very weekend. I have been using a HANTEK HE6022 for a year or so due to lack of space on my desk. The hazzle of getting it connectd to the laptop made me consider this option instead.

Have you come across any serious limitations and did you update the firmware?

The latest firmware added a FFT mode which is 'cute' ... but no real issues with the device. It's an entry level device but also surprisingly capable, and the user interface is surprisingly decent. Much better than most devices in this price class.

It was a Hantek and this is much better in almost every way. Especially the user interface which is mostly intuitive to use. The Hantek was so obtuse and confusing with the silly UI. Plus it would quickly drain its battery when off and in a drawer...

It doesn't. The best you can do is screen captures of the scope mode and copy them off via USB. That would be extremely cool if it did have HDMI output.
