"People don’t cheer for chaos when they feel like justice is possible. But right now... the Supreme Court is corrupt, voting feels useless, and the people in power are funded by the very corporations they’re supposed to regulate."

Harris didn't lose because she was a bad candidate. She was great. Took over a campaign, created new platform, brutalized Trump in her debate, and raised a $1 billion in 100 days. She lost because she's a woman. America is not ready to elect a woman president.
Genuinely curious who you thought would be a better candidate than Harris? I'm not a fan of her or Biden, but what option do you think would have garnered more votes? Probably safe to assume the same consultants and donor class, etc., so... who would have gotten more people to the pols?
Honestly? Any man from The Democratic party. America is not ready to elect a female president. Trump has only beaten women, never a man. Harris did a fine job, but the odds were stacked against her. FYI, while I may vote for certain politicians, I'm not a fan of any of them. That's what MAGAts do.
Tim Walz. When wasn't muzzled he actually brought energy, positivity, and a long record of great policies from his time as governor. There's a reason he was the most popular person in the race.
This is what is insane to me about the scolding coming from corporate media. It's their fault. They rigged it for themselves. They let oligarchy take over. A progressive runs for office if they aren't a charisma powerhouse, they get outspent and buried. Dire times.
I think people understand that there has been a war going on for decades with a rain of bullets coming from one side only (classroom shooting, redistribution of wealth upwards, death by spreadsheet from corporate America) and this guy was the first guy to send a bullet in the opposite direction
For now, the public officials and the billionaires that own them feel safe behind their gates.
But if the oil-igarchs keep pushing, eventually, even their finely-honed disinformation machine will be unable to convince the 99.9% that Trans kids are the reason they're hungry and homeless.
This, the accurate interpretation of 2024 reality.
Furthermore, abusive acts by those in power to strip away the only thing that remains-
our dignity… those are the acts that spark fury & provoke acts of violence.
Cheering is a mere symptom, the underlying root causes are inequality & injustice.
I'm sorry, why aren't people, may of whom watch Yellowstone religiously, allowed to enjoy murder? It's baked into our DNA as humans. How do you think wars are won? By arm wrestling contests?
Democracy has ALWAYS been a sham. ALWAYS.
If Democracy really worked, we'd have everything we need and THEN SOME by now.
Screw Democracy. Revolution gets the goods.
When our democracy has been killed by money interest (like health insurance companies), people don’t have another recourse, but violence. Slave revolts are heroic. Like Nat Turner, those in power are going to call him a “terrorist”, but to all of us, he is a hero. #JuryNullification
They aren't corrupt they just interpreted the law differently than what you thought should have been the interpretation. You are a pseudo journalist and unless I am wrong your legal training is non existent. Do you expect Brett Kavanaugh to determine that you don't know or do your job properly?
Feeling helpless or hopeless is unproductive and not true. We all have power, more power than we are often aware of. And if we band together it multiples our power. We can all do something. As Yoda said: "Try not. Do… or do not. There is no try."
It’s funny though, cuz even in the midst of MLK era civil rights protests-which were peaceful-the government was actively using violent means to quash and remove protestors!
"The time comes in the life of any nation when there remain only two choices - submit or fight. That time has now come to South Africa. We shall not submit and we have no choice but to hit back by all means in our power in defence of our people, our future, and our freedom." - Nelson Mandela
But nonetheless he encountered violence and continued the fight! Not sure what your point is… you sound like the patriarchy telling the poors to be nice and peaceful while you protest the billionaires looting the country!
He very clearly understood that they had their place in the social discourse. He went on to say that if you take the sum of white violence and balance against the violence of the riots, the whites "the hardened criminal would be the white man".
That doesn’t mean he *advocated* rioting or other violent responses to oppression. His nonviolent protest movement was, after all, relatively successful.
Then in 1967...
"They may be deplored... [but] Urban riots are a special form of violence. They are not insurrections. The rioters are not seeking to seize territory or to attain control of institutions. They are... intended to shock the white community. They're a distorted form of social protest."
“Why did King consider violent protests self-defeating? At a 1968 church meeting, he told congregants that rioting makes "a right-wing takeover more likely," arguing that "every time a riot develops, it helps [the segregationist presidential candidate] George Wallace."”
But robinhood can't come and save us. We need to create such hyperabundance that the current paradigm becomes obsolete. Unfortunately, greed seems to trump everything in the current one. Hopefully, Ray Kurzweil is right and the tech Renaissance is right around the corner.
What happens when people believe they have no recourse in the system? They go outside of the system. Our system is a social contract. If that contract is violated, all bets are off.
Isn’t this the same with Trump and his proposed tariffs with Canada and Mexico (after signing off on a trade agreement with each country during his last term)? The USA under a Trump presidency has no integrity at all. FAFO!!
Exactly. When the elite have cut off any possibility for justice or change via legal means don’t be surprised when people turn to illegal but completely moral actions.
We're just happy one was finally used against someone who deserved it instead of a room full of school children. And since it's clear gun control is not going to ever happen we might as well join the party.
Did you vote for Harris? And how many people sat out and didn’t vote? We could have built on the progress the ACA brought (like Medicaid expansion). You can’t say “voting feels useless” if you don’t vote for more progress.
It'll be interesting to see what comes of this in the coming months. On one hand you have corporate backed right wing media going full on scold mode. On the other hand you have senators proposing legislation to break up the mega insurers.
Can you speak to a time in American history when that sentence wasn't true? And yet, we still managed to get to where we are in spite of where we started. And there was a lot of cheering of some pretty big Aholes that came before us.
sorry that's not it, our society is truly broken, the center was pulled right or into a schizo state where you can admire Elon Musk but think Brian Thompson had to die, work as an AI programmer while thinking the Unabomber had some good points

And feelings can lie to us which is why we're in this mess now.
Voting is not useless.
People don't vote and then complain about things not changing and say voting is useless.
An election is not you picking your best friend or maid of honor. It is a choice between two options.
I have a feeling you are one of the 7 million reasons we have Trump again.
You're not special.
You think her parading Liz Cheney was good strategy? NO IT WASN'T.
But if the oil-igarchs keep pushing, eventually, even their finely-honed disinformation machine will be unable to convince the 99.9% that Trans kids are the reason they're hungry and homeless.
As the constitution says “we the corporations”

but it is tone that is the issue..........

Women’s suffrage too!
All for money and power. Sad.
The full context explains that violent rebellions are sometimes necessary to get the attention necessary to facilitate change.
His career didn't end after "I have a dream". It's important to see what he's said after that.
“Let me say as I've always said, and I will always continue to say, that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating…”
King explained the frustration that led some to riot & violence, but he never supported or condoned it.

Fuck these oligarchs and the ruling class!
He denied 1/3 of his patients healthcare
Sure about that?
There is close to 500 Million guns in America.
It's bewildering & dangerous when it's not
