Presumably more like Venus. The atmosphere of Mars is so thin likely due to its core cooling and the planet losing most of its magnetic field. The solar wind has been slowly stripping its atmosphere for billions of years now.

And that adds to Sagan's point. We like to point out when a region or country reduces its emissions, but it's a global issue. Adding energy to any part of the "civilizational heat engine" causes the entire thing to grow, including boosting the fossil portion and making it more difficult to replace.

One conceptual issue most people have is that there is a huge amount of atmosphere and oxygen
Most O2 is within 5-6 miles of the surface. You can easily run 5 or 6 miles. It’s not a lot.
