Booker is a skilled politician, maybe even presidential material, but if he is it isn't because he's a man of the people, it's because he doesn't come off as a threat to the powers that be. He isn't going to be doing Oligarchy Tours anytime soon, the money's too good.

Democracies live and die by ideologues and demagogues. We can hope for the good ones (MLK, Milk, JFK, Teddy Roosevelt) but we can’t deny the fact that a government ruled by popularity requires these visible actions.
