Ritter was the main focus of the Vandeventer Spring Redevelopment Corp (Grand Center Inc. subsidiary) plans with housing and commercial to follow. The fancy "On Olive" homes finally brought the housing. And of course all part of the New Town In Town history.

My god I didn't think about it going north of Olive but then I look at the map and it damn well went up to Delmar.

Another thing I'm thinking about is the failed (never got off the ground) Mill Creek North urban renewal project and how close Cervantes was to SLU And the archdiocese.

I feel like the new Cardinal Ritter should have been built in conjunction with the Bluemeyer/Vashon site redevelopment that was going on around that time. They could have used the Rock church as an anchor & truly made the school a part of a cohesive community with real connections to Grand Ctr (1/2)

There's layers to that and some of it may have been Danforth's disinterest in a wider scope for their Vashon project. Will winter talks a lot about the Vashon compact/JVL initiative and it seems it was fractious enough internally without any outside help.
