And some *really* don't mix with alcohol, so extra sympathies if you had any of those. Here's hoping you get back to rude health. Or polite health. Good health, that's it
The muscadine slushee is one of my favorite things at the NC state fair. (I think Mast stopped making their fancy muscadine juice - it was very good for those of us who don’t drink.)
Oh, now that's an interesting thing - I vaguely recall encountering it once and quite liking it in an odd way. But looking at Wikipedia it's not what I thought it was at all
😹 I have had the white, mail ordered some for funsies after some NC Twitter resident talked it up. (Probaby @neolithicsheep.bsky.social tbh, he could sell anything) And yes, more a punch than a wine, but I'd probably buy it for summer if they were local. It's...cost prohibitive to mail.
This is correct, I couldn't get it anywhere in state. Ordering it wasn't too heinous, but husband went "gak - tooooo sweet!" & I had to drink it by myself (sacrifices must be made haha) but now I'm not really allowed to drink, so...
A North Carolina coastal red?? Probably the last wine I would have imagined making it to England.
Fun fact, before prohibition, NC was the #1 wine producing state in the US, more than California and NY. Most from the Yadkin valley, but the coast also makes some.
That explains it. It doesn't get a lot of distribution except through personal carry. New Bern's a beautiful town. We often try to stop by on our way to or from the beach. (I'm in Durham)
Yeah. It’s probably one of my favourite wines but as you say, very difficult to get ahold of outside of their immediate region. I do live in hope that someday someone will start selling a Muscadine in England!
Both Virginia and North Carolina are really upping their wine game in the last few decades. Northern VA has this citrus wine that is amazing. It's sunshine in a bottle.
I'm in NC and every store carries a ton of Duplin wines. It didn't even occur to me that it might be hard to get elsewhere, I just thought they were a very popular brand.
See if you can get the one with a Pelican on it, it's one of the best I've ever had.
Oh I didn’t pair those two, the cereal just lives on the counter. a sweet red like Muscadine needs to be paired with something a bit salty, like the Pringles I am also eating for lunch. a well rounded meal and all

but since it was open anyhow
I presume the phylloxera mite doesn't like it

Cheers!
I think I'll spike my chocolate milk with some chocolate liquor to combat my PMS today as well 🍻
but my mom is from new bern and sometimes she brings me treats lol
isn’t too far from there. Glad to see the Carolinas getting some love on here.

Asking for someone who may or may not be me.
