I was 16 when I almost lost my religion. About 7 of my friends and I went to an all white church a mile away from our community. We were asked to leave because of our skin color. Had it not been for my father giving me wisdom I would have left the christian religion. Some of my friends did.

Speculation: Some churches, especially ones aligned with recent govt trends, don't WANT the govt to be the organization helping people in need. The CHURCHES want to fill that role instead, even if in a much shittier capacity.

Why? A big inroad to new lifelong memberships is aiding people in need.
