Yeah, the best things they have going for them are the cleanliness and professionalism. I do love their caesar pasta salad at the deli counter, though. My grandmother is obsessed with their breakfast bread that they bake in-store if you're into hearty breads. It's pretty good toasted with butter.

I have neither a Wegmans nor a Publix within 30 minutes of home. (There is a Wegmans 30 minutes away, but that’s too far for grocery shopping.) However, I have been to both repeatedly.

Publix is by far the most expensive grocery store in our area. I shop there with caution. The BOGOs are good. The customer service is fantastic.

You don't have to actually buy two items to get the BOGO. You can buy one and they will ring it up at half price. #protip

Not true everywhere. If it's 2 for $5 you can get 1 for $2.50, but if it's BOGO, you have to get 2 where I live (Florida)

It does vary by state. I live in GA and noticed BOGO items ring up at half price, then I looked it up and that's what state law requires. They're often something I'll want two of anyway, but it's really nice when I only want one

This is actually not true everywhere. Publix in Florida requires you to buy 2 to get the deal. I believe Georgia has a law requiring them to give 1 for half price if it's BOGO.

Publix benefits in Florida by not having much regional competition, just Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts, and The Fresh Market really. Winn-Dixie is there for lower price but honestly who goes to Publix for price anymore??

As someone who grew up in Florida (and worked at a Publix), I agree with two exceptions:
1. The subs (of all kinds) are better at Publix.
2. At least where I’m at now (Northern Virginia) Wegmans is a a special-trip grocery store rather than an on-every-corner grocery store

I've never lived anywhere with a Wegman's, and will definitely go to one when I have the chance.

Publix has a particularly good deli, bakery, and variety of stuff, so when I lived in Florida I was happy to do my entire grocery shopping there. That's surprisingly hard to find other places in the US.

Wegmans produce is generally better and the prices are no comparison. Pub subs are overrated, but the Heath Bar cookies are great. If Wegmans moved down here, I'd probably only go to our Publix for the pharmacy because ours has been super helpful. I miss Wegmans every time I go grocery shopping now.

Publix is good, but they're too expensive for my everyday shopping. I watch their BOGO sales and stock up on things I need.

Their produce is fresher than the other stores available to me, like Kroger and Aldi.
