Starter pack for those working on misinfo, disinfo, information integrity, digital authoritarianism, propaganda etc. Definitely a work in progress, reply if you want to be added! https://go.bsky.app/V4Po9wB
Also bio and some verifiable info or credentials are useful - simply because it would behove some bad actors to want to be on a list like this to feed bad info...Flat earthers, anti vaxxers etc
Marc, as if under some PTSD spell from twitter and other social media platforms, it took me few hours to convince myself to 1) put my real name, 2) eventually develop my bio but with some reservation, 3) interact with other posts. So far, I’ve managed already to have at least one troll on my tale…
That’s actually the point. When anyone says “fake news,” someone smart can reply, do you mean Type I or Type II? If they want to ban “disinformation” and “misinformation,” we are taking “fake news” down with us.
Now you're talking! Spent 20 years in advertising. Now obsessed on better Climate and Public Health messaging. As I like to say, McDonald's didn't succeed by selling its ingredients (trans fats and cholesterol!): they sold us a "Happy Meal". We need to do the same. Happy to join if there's room
Disinformation is due to media ill-literacy- we can learn from the RadRight that built community media infrastructure so let's fight fire with fire cos WRWK flipped Reprehensible Dave Brat for the first woman in that house seat!

I'm all there! I spoke on Sirius XM yesterday on just this:
Examining 'what went wrong' is fine, but... just as importantly? We could learn a lot by examining what the 'tactics' are that were used by the far-right, Q-Anon 'influencers' that WORKED... to get THEIR message through.
Maybe also me. Formerly head of product at Stone transparency making a tool to fight Disinfo, currently head of Product at https://innovationinpolitics.eu - building Disinfo crisis response kit for local gov.
If you haven't already added @profsanderlinden.bsky.social you should definitely check him out! He was my professor in college and I've followed his career since then. He's even written some books about the topic!
Can you add @millarlaura.bsky.social to this starter pack please? She's one of the world's foremost archivists who wrote "A Matter of Facts: The Value of Evidence in the Information Age."
Be grateful to be added @marcowenjones.bsky.social - haven't posted much here but we run a misinformation unit for PR and Comms (and have widely promoted your @sohandsouza.bsky.social 's work) 🙏🏻
Please add me if you can, I'm a disinformation writer (new book coming out soon for Routledge & a Psychology Today politics blog, TEDx talk on fake news). Thankyou!
The Empire is impressed with the initiative you have demonstrated by assembling this useful enemies list. Your account will be credited with a free trip aboard an Empire cruise ship to an approved destination of your choice, including unlimited access to the soft-serve machine.
Thank you for this! Please add us. We carry out independent investigations into the nationwide deaths of people experiencing homelessness and how homelessness is weaponised through mis and disinformation to increase racism and xenophobia
Guess you need a second starter pack. :-) If you do one, It would be fab if you add me an my team. We're the organizers of the MisDoom24 conference @misdoom.bsky.social , and my team and me have published on disinfo quite a bit. (Easy to find on Google Scholar and Wikipedia.)
I just got here 10 minutes ago.
And what I think you're working on, is why I left hell... I mean x.
I have no idea how this place works, but sign me up!
(right?)
I'm curious as to who defines what misinformation, propaganda etc actually is. This appears to be the main problem with defining such as more often than not the answer is just "something I disagree with".

I imagine this one is full, so if you do a Part 2, please include me Marc. 🙏

Just launched my own #misinformation newsletter/blog looking at things from a comms professional's perspective.

Because content & connected accounts are basically independent, the 2 typical problems are not here.
1. You don't need to 'follow' to see their content,
2. Their 'stream' does not need to include 1000s of users.
