Quite unnerving watching quite how many Conservative frontbenchers have decided to leap on 'actually the 2022 inquiry that happened under us wasn't sufficient. We've just discovered this now'. Terrible for their own self-interest as well as being ridiculous.

Tory frontbenchers Chris Philp and Alicia Kearns later wrote to home secretary Yvette Cooper demanding a national inquiry. But they did not comment on why the Conservatives had not set up such a probe while in government.

Step two: don’t ask any questions about this issue as shadow home secretary.
Step three: ???

Most of them think in fantasy memes already so reality doesn't have to be involved at all
- Those with broad safeguarding concerns, and actions to improve them within the system.
- Those who believe a focus on EDI / maintaining community relations led to the grooming gangs - and that these must be tackled head on.
Where I think reasonable people can differ is whether this was a bug (that can be improved by general child protection improvements) or a feature.
There doesn't seem much that answers those who are specifically concerned that fear of being called racist/Islamophobic allowed the grooming gangs to happen.

TORY CRIME MINISTER MAYBE HE WAS DISTRACTED ?
Note - some people are thick, yes.
'Unlike Starmer as DPP in 2013, we ignored our independent inquiry and that is why a new one under Starmer is needed'?
They're damned if they don't, and maybe they can blame Boris Johnson.
