Question for artists! ✨ I've noticed that a LOT of artists have moved over here. I feel like the community is really active too! Are you seeing enough reach/activity here that you're able to completely leave twitter behind?

i feel like the activity here is a lot more consistent, at least for a smaller account. over there it's a gamble if my post will be seen by 3 people or by 3k (which ofc makes it hard to leave twitter completely behind, since there's always a chance a post will get picked up by the algorithm :/)
Unfortunately not. Don't get me wrong, engagement here is way better, but I still post on Twitter because that's where my oshis are and there seems to be no signs of them moving to bsky anytime soon.
Yes, actually, but there's such a larger space of certain fandoms I'm in that still use Twitter.
From an artist standpoint, I no longer be using Twitter to share my art
one million percent! i just hope everyone doesnt abandon bluesky when trolls inevitably arrive (and i hope the moderation is strong enough for future raids)
Bluesky is a awesome place to be as an artist, the community here engages a lot more compared to X and everyone is happy to bring each others art around.
I have hopes this platform is the new place for us, same with Cara.
Just my take I think there is still a lot of non artists that didnt migrate so like you take a hit to your overall numbers, depends on ur audience will change its impact.
That said, the quality of the engagement here seems more earnest as it doesn't reward being inflammatory.
Not yet, but I will do my best to push my followers to check out my new stuff here. Unfortunately, considering the amount of work I get through Twitter, for now, I can't afford to leave it completely.
I've left Twitter completely and have only posted a few of my old works since I haven't drawn in a year and half now, but I'm hoping for the best once I pick it back up!
This site has been a bliss, good moderation features and seems like everyones united on an aim to make this site better than the other app. Though until I tie all the ends on the other site, I'll stay there for as long as my patience allows
Yeah 100%! Bluesky at the moment feels like how Twitter felt to me 7-10 years ago. A really nice artist community and everyone appreciating and supporting each other.
I guess it's because i haven't did any interaction here aside from posting art I'm getting more interaction on my twitter acc than here but that's understandable.
Yes. At least as a small artist, my reach in twitter has become abysmal. Here I get much more likes and comments, on twitter I only get any if I do trendy fanart
Not yet! A definite feeling of a work/commission safety net didn't translate to here yet for me, but it's well on its way. Having way more fun hanging out and posting art here though!
I don't really know if that's the case, plenty of nsfw accounts that popped off very strongly here! I suppose it's a matter of posting often and socializing, things are bound to get better if we show up more.
Definitely close to it, almost the entire pixelart community has moved to Bluesky for now, so the core artists I used to interact with are almost all here, it'll probably take a little while to get the level of reach I had on the hellsite, but so far the vibe here is far, far more positive.
For me definitely. I’m barely seen on twitter (not I see my friend’s art) but I can see everything here and people can see me. So that’s pretty helpful!
I feel like it’s good if you already had a big community on Twitter. Like past 2k-5k followers. But because I was bellow 1k I think my reach is very very slow here. Not even my few followers see my stuff.I’m not sure what the cause is
The reach is much smaller, and I have yet to work out tags, but I feel like it's much less intimidating to post and reply to other ppl. The sense of community is so much better as well 💞🩷
My X was completely dead, nobody followed me besides bots and few artists friends and here I'm almost reaching 1k, so yes I wss able to leave that crap behind.
Yes and no. I have gotten slightly more reach than my twitter did, but still not much at all. Its not new for me, I just don't know how to outreach probably. 🥲
Agreeing on fewer followers but more engagement. And higher quality engagement, as well. But to be fair, twitter was ancillary to how I make my money, so I am not as good a person to judge I think
Been here for a minute but I never really had "the spark" to begin with, so my follow on twitter dont really mean all that much anyway. Would rather safely share art to 100 real people than 10k people and 5k bots ya know?
the fact i actually see the things from the people i follow is the only thing that matters at this point, even if i rely on social media to make a living. night and day difference
Actually, I'm not that popular to reach as many people as I have desired, but it's nice that I get likes from art folks and people I know here on BlueSky~ :P
I certainly think there’s a chance for the full move!! It’s a bit hard at the moment but I can definitely say it’s nice to actually SEE the art of the people I’m following and people are much more welcoming! 🥰🥰
Slowly but surely! I feel like we need to advertise our moving to Bsky a bit more but I think most of the artist I was following there are here now, and a lot of art lovers as well !
It's feeling a lot more supportive, that's for sure. There's the question of whether there's much reach beyond art and games communities, buuuuut I think that's something to build with time. It feels a lot better for the brain, that's for sure
Not for me, no! I'm seeing a lot of interactions though so I'm happy to be here with a lot of fellow artists who HAVE made the full switch and I won't get to see on Twitter anymore
The reach over there has pretty much crashed, what keeps me around is the people who still haven't moved elsewhere. Here I do think the reach is better but I need to rebuild a community, and that's the tricky part. I'm always looking for more cool artists to follow and engage with!
Oh much less interaction, but tbf i have been to busy tonpost more than like, 2 drawings and neither is fanart, and with nearly no one from my art twitter moving with me i am not surprised.
i’m not sure if i’m confident enough to leave twitter completely (having a few hundred thousand followers is rly hard to part with)
but the growth i’ve seen on here, even with the last week is really encouraging. i’ve gained 15k in a week, and my posts have been getting a TON of traction.
I've grown more than I expected here, and gotten a bit more engagement here than in other places, but I feel it's become less as more people and more big accounts have migrated.
I got zero reach on twitter, like none only bots. Here i can post with no hashtags and still get a real person only if its one like. Thats good enough for me.
Reach is pretty good, and you can use as many hashtags as are appropriate for each piece if you want.
We don't have to worry about algorithm as much, from what I've seen.
Hi there ✌️ yes undoubtedly we are seeing much better interactions and better engagement on here.
Twitter actively suppresses any tweets that contain a link to a non-twitter platform so it’s dead really for anyone like us trying to promote our work. This was the main reason we left.
I'm seeing a lot more different artists, aside from the ones I follow and see reposted by friends, the discovery tab is actually fun to browse and I see a lot of amazing new artists I would have never seen on Twitter. And smaller accounts too, blessedly.
It's been amazing as a small artist!! I was trying to build my Twitter for a couple years and got nowhere, but here, I get so much more interaction! it really feels like a community! I see so many amazing artists! it feels more real here <3
I am quite small but twitter was completely ineffective for me at the end, I lost some reach but keeping a twitter account wasn’t changing anything about it sadly
Not yet, but I feel the interactivity is a lot more over here? So far the timeline isnt restricted to 5 accounts and their reposts
I think it will come with time but this feels like an inherently more creative friendly platform
According to my stats I still get a lot of site traffic from Twitter, so I don't feel comfortable leaving it completely yet, but I get a lot more post engagement here on Bsky recently. It's really nice to be able to reconnect with people and it feels easy and safe to leave comments or share stuff!
I feel like I'm talking to myself here lol I think I need to really go through and follow lots of other people and just post some old pieces again and things like that, it feels like starting from absolute zero again though. 😩
You can use the https://skyfollowerbridge.com extension to find the people you were following on Twitter who also have accounts here. And you can use https://BlueArk.app to move all your old tweets from Twitter to your Bluesky account. It's still work, but you don't have to start from zero if you don't want to
I think you have to treat this place as if it was a real life party. To get noticed you have to actually talk to other people and network. I think reach on twitter is somewhat of a mirage. It's infested with bots, made to just spam everywhere and net followers for profit.
I set up an account here months ago, didn’t vibe with it, so waited for Threads access, like it there quite a bit… but then heard Bluesky was taking off so…
The sense of community and love I receive from Bluesky is absolutely amazing! I left Twitter a few months before fully moving here and I'm glad I did. I was also a Bluesky veteran so that helped with my reach and support, and I got such lovely mutuals from being one of the first people here.
Also for reference I think the highest follower account I ever got on twitter specifically for my art is 250? Around that number. My engagement would be like, sub 5 likes on the regular. On bsky, I got to 300 in 2 days and I'm omw to 1.2k now.
Given I’d see little to nothing whenever I’d post a drawing over on Twitter, the response I’ve had here has been incredible! I don’t care if it’s only a few people, the fact that anyone is seeing and liking my stuff means EVERYTHING to me!
As a customer and follower, I find it easier to keep up with everyone on BlueSky right now. My timeline shows posts as they come instead of a bunch of junk that makes me not want to deal with scrolling to find stuff.
I have noticed that the likes and shares here seem about the same as Twitter for most artists, if not more since people like me are able to find things better. I think the engagement could be better to for the same reasons.
Not really, but honestly twitter has always been volatile anyway (40 likes on art, and then one blows to several thousand, and then back to two digits on next post). BS is small on the reach for me, but it's stable.
Ngl, part of me is very tired of the constant exoduses (devart, LJ, tumblr
I had strong up tick in engagement during the first wave of new bluesky users, but it’s slowed down quite a bit. It feel like reaching a new audience is a hit or a miss for me and things have become stagnant. Same thing, new social media. Still better than Twitter for sure though
i just started posting actively here but i was shocked that even with 50- followers my doodle got over 40 likes?? i have over 1k followers on twitter but anything i post reaches 10 people max so im definitely very pleasantly surprised here🥹🥹
It's easier to reach new people here due to starter packs. Most likely most of your non-bot/dead accounts following will jump over here and follow you through skybridge.
There's no algorithm competing for your followers attention. So yes it's better here.
I already deleted mine, so I guess I'll find out! Honestly, I don't mind rebuilding from scratch. I'm more performance-based and never really had enough of my body of work online to warrant thinking twice about it. Maybe Bluesky will be the place to start putting my stuff out there more.
I wasn't by any means a huge artist, but after moving over here I see so much activity when I post anything even as innocuous as a text post saying "whats up". Likes and shares are awesome, but I think I love most that people are actually socializing too;;
Way more engagement in everything I’ve posted with 1/5th the followers thanks to no algorithmic suppression and hashtags actually working how they’re supposed to.
I still reply and comment to posts on Twitter, but I’ve switched to only posting my art here.
I came in to see how things were going and then was shocked how good the posts were and how engaged everyone was and started forgetting to check Twitter.
Not really, but wasn't very big on twitter neither so, nothing really to complain, but leaving Musk is nice.
Probably that it is also less easy for borderlines with erotic artwork here, idk.
i only just moved over within the last month, so far its around the same as twitter but hopfully it will only grow ^^ atleast its not been bots tho so far.
I've had artists follow me back, I'm also feeling more encouraged to post my art [not just fanart] and it feels like it can really be a community here. There are also feeds that block out AI and follow lists to find more artists. It's really supporting.
Far, far more than I was getting on twitter. I had 16k followers on twitter before I deleted my account, and over here I'm getting far more visibility. toward the end due to algorithm an just musk shenanigans, my work that would usually get 1k or more hits, was getting maybe 15... 30 faves.
I'm a very small artist, so I'm not seeing much difference between the platforms tbh. I'll still post there because it doesn't take much effort to post there.
At the moment, it feels like I’m invisible, but I was invisible on twitter too, so no changes there. I’m hoping things will be better here for artists. I had enough of the hate and poison and adds that people spread over there.
The only reason I have my twitter is to keep my handle. It’s almost impossible to come back to twitter after seeing horrible news trending, which was the final straw for me. Seeing my favorite artists moving here is when I felt right at home again so I don’t feel the urge to check twitter anymore.
I saw a webcomic artists show in numbers that in a year they've gotten the following on bluesky that they spent 10 years building on twitter and now have surpassed twitter. Plus I've seen dozens of comments of engagement being better all over the various art circles.
No not yet. I feel like here I am getting more engagement but most commission requests are still coming from Twitter. As someone who works in animation and used to get 90% of my work from being found on Twitter, I’m not sure if the majority of recruiters made the leap yet either.
I would say not right now, but a couple more Code Elons where there's a mass exodus and I'll be matching my twitter follower count, and I'd say right now engagement is higher. If the novelty wears off, it'll drop and I'll be in the shit so I'm crossing my fingers folks make the move permanent.
Not really. Didn't have too many followers on Twitter (600 or so. Started last year.) and alot of them didn't follow me here when i transfered. So i am back at the start, though its a lot more consistent!
It seems like the few people who follow me actually see my posts, which is nice lol.
As someone who doesn't post often but is looking to put more of my art out there, the very few posts I've made on here over the past view months have gotten almost double the attention of all the art posts I ever put on Twitter (which I was on for YEARS!!). So yes :)
Definitely more than I had on twitter but so far less than instagram. I imagine it will overtake quickly in the coming weeks though once I become more active!
Not really, I left it because I didn't had much reach there and it's a shithole, but my last two posts there did pretty well for me and here they don't have any likes. I'm getting some followers tho so I guess that's cool!!
I left without a net fully about 16 months ago when this place was invite only with 0 expectations. Since then I probably have 80% of where I was..a lot more engagement from a wider number of people in a more pleasant atmosphere than the short while I was on threads or there
Engagement here has been consistent for me. I won't get rid of my twt but I did private it, but I won't post full art there anymore I think. Here, it feels more like artists give an effort to support each other
it took me 4 years on Twitter to reach 400 followers with post engagement of 2 or less. In a few months I gained 300 follows here and get 5+ engagement in posts, more in art posts. I don't think I'll leave Twitter entirely either, but I will only be posting art here.
I moved here recently and I could say that it is more active than twitter. Also I’m liking more Bluesky because it feels more comfortable than twitter.
I can allow myself leaving Twitter because I have a stable income for a while. I can see it being tougher for people who depend on commission rounds, but that will be less and less of an issue as the site grows, and also it doesn't arbitrarily deboost your links or words like commission.
I have a little less than double the number of followers over on Twix. That said, I see infinitely more (and deeper quality) interaction and support over here.
With the limit on reach over there, there’s just no comparison.
Imagine - people say they want to see your work, and they DO! 😏
For sure! This is the most engagement I've ever had in any social media site. My notifications are constantly popping off and it's such a great feeling when the people who follow me are actually REAL 😭
I haven't tested it much yet, but even if I have fewer followers here, I feel like it's much more visible to everyone! Perhaps it's easier to have a post "blow up" on twitter, but here it's much more cosy and it feels that people actually see them.
its going to be different for everyone but considering the numbers of people leaving the twit overall, its very encouraging over here. When the option is to give muck the legal right to feed everything I post into his AI I feel its worth the rebuilding struggle.
Barely had a chance to share my artwork here, but twitter’s new terms of service, starting tomorrow, allows twitter’s AI to use your artwork without consent. To hell with Twitter.
I'm not from Twitter but Instagram.
For a long time I noticed a lot less engagement there so I wanted to try Bluesky.
Atm I don't have much engagement if not at all, but it's kinda nice to restart fresh.
But I doubt I'll leave Instagram anytime soon 😅
This place is definitely currently more pleasant, and proportionally engagement is much better. Whether or not potential clients have moved here too remains to be seen, but I really hope so as I would LOVE to leave Elon town behind for good asap
With how Bluesky works, you actually get visibility for your posts by default. There is no algorithm to bury you like on Twitter and all posts are done chronologically. There are also little to no bots on the platform.
Reach/activity is significantly better over here and there are ways to improve.
I've never been fully fond of Twitter, and I wanted to start fresh here. I'm trying to get better at social media, and Bluesky just feels so friendly to me. I love the people I interacted with so far, the art I've seen, and my feed! I appreciate any support I can get as a small artist.
I kind of stopped using twitter/deleted everything from there when it became x, as it started feeling ragebait-y. So in a it’s a fresh start, but the community and feed here feels already way nicer, and the vibes are way better. Feels like I actually want to engage with posts here :))
I mean, a few likes is better than the none I get from twitter haha, and I've been seeing so much more art here now too!! I don't plan on leaving twitter entirely bc I follow way too many artists there that aren't here yet :') mostly the Asian artists
I'm pretty small all things considered but I find that Bluesky gave me more reach than Twitter ever did. I'm not completely leaving Twitter but all my art stuff is here now.
As an author, not exactly. But with the current state of Twitter, I just can't use it anymore. My engagement on here went to 0% compared to Twitter, compared to my posts getting noticed almost daily. I could just be doing something wrong, but idk.
I myself already had hardly any reach because of the algorithms and shadowban on X, people who like and retweet or follow me are unfortunately mostly fake or bots rather than real people who like my arts. At least on Bsky I can see my followers following me here too. Even if there are fewer of them.
I wasn't expecting to fully leave twitter, but once I made my accounts private and deleted the app I haven't even been back and been fine without. Definitely prefer it here now! I posted the same painting on both last week, the engagement level was very similar (20k vs 2.5k followers)!
I'll probably keep dropping in to post on Twitter from time to time, but will "live" here from now on. Reach seems really solid, posts approaching Twitter numbers for sure
And yes, you are right about the reach. People are more engaged and active here.
+ No bots (they are quickly blocked).
One of the artists made a comparison.
A smaller number of subscribers in Bluesky gives activity comparable to a much larger number of subscribers on Twitter.
hard to tell since all my business is done through email, most of it is repeat customers and new customers are word of mouth. but I'm less stressed and like bsky way more. no idea about numbers, i never payed attention to that.
on the flip side, I've already made purchases from shops people have shared. i hated browsing Twitter so much, i don't think I've done that in years over there.
I already left Twitter a while ago so my main point of comparison now is Instagram where the engagement is dog shite if you don’t play the algo game and you go to jail for drawing a nipple 🙃
i see a LOT of art. that is one thing Twtr seemed to be missing for me. it pushed a lot of other things and not enough art.
however, i still find myself going to twtr to look at memes and jokes. i still havent found the proper balance or art + memes here. so i venture to both for different things
I won’t know how much this will affect my work until I open commissions.
Engagement, especially with other artists, has been good so far, but that doesn’t necessarily translate in commissions or offers of work. We’ll have to see. I hope it’s a positive change.🤞
yup, i do actually. as an artist with a very small following, i've gotten more commissions and freelance gigs through bsky than i ever managed through twitter
It's impressive to see how much people has more reach and interaction with far less followers here than on twt. It would be honestly enough for me to leave twt but I know not everyone will leave and I don't want to miss out completetly on their art.
Far more than I have since 2015 instagram or 2007 deviant art. I’ve been here 10 days, have 200 followers and my top picture has 250 likes with the next 5 under then over 100 as of this post.
I haven’t been this happy to post since 2007 deviant art.
my following is not as big as it was on twt but It's ok to not rush things, I like posting here, its more comfortable and i can easily find artists i like plus no negativity and ads out of nowhere^^ as long as seeing my art makes people happy then thats a W (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
I left Twitter when musk bought it and had 7k following at the time. Likely a drop in the ocean of your reach. But I’m getting a lot of interaction on here compared to almost any of my other platforms. I have 24k on insta and it’s dead for me these days :(

I am smol and unknown.
No one noticed me on the Twitters or detected my presence here, so it was easy (ish) for me to leave!
I only check in the former site for artists, etc. who haven't moved here yet, mainly to see if they've posted about moving here yet. 😉😆😋
Does that count ?
i am also very specific with niche fandoms, I guess...
1000%
I have never interacted with ANYONE as much as i did on twitter than on bluesky
Its so much better here lmao
but the growth i’ve seen on here, even with the last week is really encouraging. i’ve gained 15k in a week, and my posts have been getting a TON of traction.
That said, Twitter felt actively hostile to be in lately while here it's more relaxed and it feels better to interact with others.
We don't have to worry about algorithm as much, from what I've seen.
over here, I at least get the occasional 3-5 likes so yeah, it's an improvement

So I'm fine just leaving twitter behind!
I think it will come with time but this feels like an inherently more creative friendly platform
I wasn't ever very well followed on twitter or nothing but I've gone from 750 followers to like 21 or so followers haha.
Time to get to work I suppose.

There is also the point where you don't know the future of any platform.
It seems like the few people who follow me actually see my posts, which is nice lol.
Most have just migrated and need time to adjust.
"Starter Packs" help a lot too 👍
Maybe I need to post more of my art but I'm not sure
But this place already feels 10x more welcoming than twitter ever did.
With the limit on reach over there, there’s just no comparison.
Imagine - people say they want to see your work, and they DO! 😏
Its not much, but the fact my arts gotten traction here whatsoever is an immediate improvement
For a long time I noticed a lot less engagement there so I wanted to try Bluesky.
Atm I don't have much engagement if not at all, but it's kinda nice to restart fresh.
But I doubt I'll leave Instagram anytime soon 😅
Reach/activity is significantly better over here and there are ways to improve.
After deleting, your nickname will become available for registration.
And someone can register it and do bad things on your behalf.
+ No bots (they are quickly blocked).
One of the artists made a comparison.

Regardless, I m staying here to build up my audiences ig than to stay in twitter :p
