Flock of Seagulls and pigeons at the mall yesterday. Some thoughful soul tossed a handfull of seeds in the middle of the mall road. Nice. What is the matter with people?
We see woodcocks all the time. At the edges of the forest mostly. They are so reluctant to fly away. They'll wait until you're up close and then fly off to land just around 30 feet away.

True story, in the spring we have a lot of turtles crossing from wetlands to swamps around our rural roads. It’s very common to be delayed when people direct traffic and assist the turtles. We give a pass to anyone claiming turtle delay.

I was late to class one day because an entire flock of geese landed on the side of the road, walked across a crosswalk, and then flew off on the other side.
Why do those birds even move like that, what evolutionary advantage would such a weird-ass movement even provided them? Or is it one of those useless behaviors that isn't particularly harmful, so it just sort of stuck around?
lol! I hate when that happens. I have ducks in my neighborhood and they’re so gorgeous.. They’ll just stand in front of my car. Next time beep the horn very loud.
I live in very rural northeastern Minnesota, and I've literally had to stop on state highways for this very procession. They take forever doing their little dance/strut across the road, and it's the most hilarious yet mildly irritating thing I've had to deal with up here...they're SO SLOW!
LONG BEFORE even 2016 I had decided that Woodcocks aren't real. They're like the "Drop Bears" of Auzz. Y'all are trying to make fun of us. Their brain is upside-down. They walk like that. Their supposed courting ritual.
