Russia invests more into its military spending than all of Europe, but Europe's armies are intact. Their nukes - other than most of Putin's - definitelly work and the Polish military, as it stands now with Ukraine, alone could take on Putin's army - and they are not alone at all.

The Russians can’t win a war in their own backyard, even bolstered with mercenaries and North Koreans. I don’t think Warsaw and Berlin are in danger of occupation.

I agree. Putin has financially crippled Russia with his war in Ukraine and is close to a hopeful collapse. The USA, on the other hand, becoming the world pariah because of Trump and Elon... that is dangerous.

Yep. I got roasted for suggesting this was, despite all, a major loss for Putin. Burned up 800k troops and countless resources (ships sunk by a country w/o a navy) and never got control of the whole country. The wounded soldiers now go home and tell their stories. Looks like a Phyrric victory to me.

But all I'm hearing is "Putin won." Yes, he retains territories, but he also needs a lot of personnel to hold it. Reminds me of GW Bush's "Mission Accomplished" moment followed by another 10-20 years in Iran-Afghanistan at high costs.

And Putin is 72, is terribly afraid of being assassinated and is indeed surrounded by enemies who just wait for an opening.
