really hard to argue with russiagate at this point, outside of some causation quibbles over what exactly makes trump like this (i.e. does Putin have something on trump or is it just his natural penchant for corruption?)

He sees himself as a member of the same international association of mafia state leaders, and while perhaps compromised by dealings with Putin is mostly just a little pathetic, desperately wanting to impress the capo di tutti i capi in ways he dimly perceives might advance their common interests.
I think it's just he worships power because he talks glowingly about the kind of power Kim jong un has over his people too. Trump is a barely sentient being trained to seek out absolute power
My issues are 1) there was never a moment where a Mueller figure was gonna top Trump. The Rs were never going to allow it. 2) it grew a cottage industry for Neocons to rehab their images and for Dems to embrace militarism and the security state
if you look at the full scope of the connections, the history of deferential statements about putin, the stories about russian funding, and the ex-KGB guys saying “we turned him”, it’s hard to believe there isn’t something there
