To be quite honest, I am following too many accounts here. And though they all came from bookish starter packs, there are too many for me to get a sense of individual identity and continuity: it’s just an endless patter of disparate posts, even if most of them are bookish.

Starter packs are a mixed blessing. They’ve helped me improve my timeline quite a bit. But I’ve also followed too many of the kind if accounts I avoided on Twitter. Folks who post but seldom engage. The whole point if this for me is to meet people.

The mix of people I know IRL to people I don’t know is off-balance. I’m happy to make new friends, but here I feel like I’ve walked into a mass event where I know almost no one.

I understand. Twitter in the early years introduced me to people I wound up meeting IRL. I loved that.

Bluesky had such a dramatic influx of people. I hope it stabilises now.

I think the way followers grew steadily on other platforms works better for interaction despite the initial 'ooh followers!' feeling. I think that will happen here too but can't be fast forwarded. We are all following/ being followed by people we haven't done so because of sonething they/ we said.

It’s going to take time. I didn’t use the bridge thing either, I wanted to avoid politics (to an extent) this time round, focus on books, screenwriting… It seems to be more about mutuals than X.

Well yes, but what I’m comparing in this thread isn’t X vs Bluesky but two different approaches to starting an account in Bluesky. The primary account I’m referring to is @gilibug.bsky.social
