Opened this account so I could follow ALL the starter packs that kinda interest me. I hope at least most of you are as cool as you seem. (I’m also @gilibug.bsky.social)

I will probably be pivoting this account to an account for my publishing house, in Hebrew. Welcome to unfollow if that’s not your thing. If you actually know who I am and want to follow ME, I’m at: @gilibug.bsky.social

I somehow ended up with 3 copies of the Folio Society's Howl's Moving Castle collection (poorly coordinated birthday presents...) I would love to trade them with someone who wants them. Will trade for particularly beautiful or unique children’s classics, in any language. Make me an offer!

Often on date night, we end by going to the 7-11 with the most unhinged candy selection and today I found this

Used the word AMANUENSIS w my dad the other day to describe one of my kids, who was stirring the fudge (for 35 minutes!), + my dad asked if I could spell it. "Of course not," I said, "but I can tell you I what book learned it from." It was ON FORTUNE'S WHEEL by Cynthia Voigt (read 30 +/- yrs ago?)

Results of this Bluesky experiment, about 3 weeks in. TL:DR: the numbers are impressive, but the experience is meh. I opened this account as a secondary account through which to follow a bunch of starter packs. I did not expect to be followed back! So now I’m following a bunch of people, >

Lovely article. I have never really understood why people like games - I just enjoy their enjoyment. But this explains it beautifully. ‘Games offer structure, shared goals and an alibi if conversation dwindles to silence.’

#MonoKubo was a young Japanese illustrator who created an imaginary world. Her illustrations depicted a life where gentle giant animals share a harmonious relationship with humans. She was greatly inspired by Studio Ghibli. She struggled with mental health issues and died in 2022 at age 27.

Spellbound on Netflix is a gorgeous film 🥰

When men rage, they blow and shoot things up and start wars. When women rage, we create. We knit, do embroidery and cross stitch. We create new things ... while we figure out how to fix the broken things. Behold rage project #1

Forget “Wicked”: what I’m looking forward to is Volshebnik Izumrudnova Goroda - a new cinematic adaptation of the Russian Wizard of Oz! I hope there will be some way to stream or view this in the West. youtu.be/XtQTfJru9kM?...

“Can’t you just digitise it all!” we’re asked. Sadly not my friend, because resources. #Decisions are made based on likely user-interest & fragility of material. We've really enjoyed reading @sharnajackson.com article about 10 books to encourage reading - some brilliant choices 👍 What's your go to recommendation for encouraging children to sit and loose themselves in a book? www.theguardian.com/books/2024/n...

Good morning.

@ianwinick.bsky.social saw this and thought of you :)

Sure, social media has its downsides, but I cannot say enough good things about being able to see everybody's pets without having to leave my house or speak to a human first, really just knocked that one out of the park

I think some people really cannot fathom that media can be well made and enjoyable and also be for children at the same time. You can like the same things kids like without needing to justify it. It's ok!

Pretty sure it’s not.

Happy Thanksgiving, BlueSky! Please enjoy this video of me using a mechanical apple peeler, with which I used to delight my twitter followers.

I wish this was commonly accepted.

Intrigued by the People’s Bookshelf at the National Library of Latvia. Each book in the collection has been donated by a member of the public and is inscribed by its former owner, telling a personal story relating to the book.

So Wired Magazine did a profile of me! www.wired.com/story/murder...

London please help. I’m praying for a miracle, I’ve just got into the office and noticed my mums locket (in all these photos) that I wear every day has fallen off my neck on my walk in. My mum died when I was seven and her jewellery is most of what I have of her. I’m devastated

Optimist: The cup is half full Pessimist: The cup is half empty Translator: But is it a cup, or is it a mug? There's a major sociological difference between someone using a cup and saucer and someone using a mug.
