This article is quite balanced and cautious compared to many of the ones that came out today, and the kicker is truly amazing!
Still, it doesnβt acknowledge that DMS has already been found in lifeless places in space, including comet 67P. That seems like a pretty major omission.
In addition, K2-18b is within 127 light years, so it has likely received human radio communication. There are currently 73 confirmed exoplanets within habitable zones of their hosts and within the sphere of human radio communication.

Sounds much like the planet Solaris from the sci-fi novel of the same name by Stanislaw Lem. When earthlings eventually get there, I hope this planet only resembles Solaris physically without the sentient and superintentelligent ocean covering it.
