Like Not Just Bikes says. American cities weren't built for cars, they were destroyed by them. Cities used to be densely designed for walking to and from everywhere but after the car industries propaganda cities bulldozed their downtowns to cater to cars, now so many are like 80% parking lots.

I'd say the buildings and overall style looks clearer in the AI version, but there's a lot of very odd little details and design 'choices' that are strange and give it away on close inspection (things that I wouldn't expect any human artist to do).

There is no space on the sidewalk for a wheelchair, or stroller on the walkable one. Don’t forget to think about disabled people when reworking cities.

The hours I have spent as a voluntary town Councillor arguing on our planning committee that we should be supporting more walkable housing and buildings, and support public transport (& even taxi stands) rather than fussing that there are "enough" carparks for every house (they want 1 per bedrm ish)

I don't have any political affiliation other than never voting for right wing parties. My concern about the greens has always been their lack of enthusiasm for housing building. Are the greens committed to 250 k homes a year (the bare minimum) and how would you make it happen?

Huh? I'm on a planning Committee approving and supporting house building constantly!
That said, it drives me nuts that we have a) 1000s of empty homes in our town (officially, I'm not making it up); &
b) SO many buildings that can be retrofit to be homes or house people,..so why destroy greenfield?

It's not only the distances. It's the lack of sidewalks, crossings etc. When cities are "developed" for automobiles, walking (or biking for that matter) is marginalised in various ways. In some cases, it gets virtually outlawed. The lonely pedestrians are stopped by police for loitering or vagrancy.
