When motorcyclists pass each other on the road they do a special wave to acknowledge each other. I want something like that for when you see another masked person in a public place - a little masking solidarity wave.

Can I suggest a NZ classic, the East Coast Wave? It's an upwards head nod. Smile with your eyes and look cool.
Tried to find the video of Jacinda Ardern demonstration but this is a good example too
I will nod, but if it’s a day I have courage I will thank them for still wearing a mask. Want to give others positive reactions amongst the neg we get.
I'd prefer that instead of the man who called me a "stupid c**t." My dude, I have two autoimmune diseases. I'd roll around in an isolation chamber if I could.
I wholeheartedly agree but I am barely 5'1" and this guy was huge. He looked like someone ready to be violent so I just kept walking. I was on my way into a store and he was on his way out.
that would be cool!🤙 recently a man told me "are you going to rob a bank? haven't you heard Covid is gone!" and I wanted to take my mask off and cough on him 🙄
Did you and your husband win this? You're a cute couple!! Take him for a ride! You can go have brunch and check out the flower shops downtown, maybe take in a play or some cool jazz. Have a🌈 of a day and enjoy the vespa
You just really hate people being chill, happy and safe. You can call them pussies, I'm a dick and I'll call you an asshole.
Guess who I'd rather party with?
I think you already have it. If you put out the motorcycle finger to another masked person in public I suspect they would know what you were signaling about. Do it. Own it. It is yours now.
It matters what kind of motorcycle it is. True bikers generally only give the low two finger wave to each other and they don't give the wave to anyone they deem unworthy. It's a very complex subculture.
Maskers haven't had time to develop distinct looks and castes yet.
That's very true. I grew up around outlaw bikers in the States in the 70's and 80's. Those guys were hard-asses, there were very few acceptable bikes, and God help you if you were wearing the wrong patch. I'm glad I got away from that lifestyle.
Ohh I know you do bud, that's why I added the generally bit. It's a bit like all RE riders liking cake...... I mean I've not met one who doesn't yet, but I'm sure some do!
I usually point to mask & say great or whatever situation we are in. Once got woman say back only wearing it because my husband is sick as if exasperated. Find mobility scooters tend to wave at each other too.
When I was a young dude with ridiculously beautiful and long hair, I tried to develop something like this with the other two dudes in town who had ridiculously long and beautiful hair, but one of them was Rob Baker from the Tragically Hip and I think he just thought I was a fan.
Illegal? That's insane. I can understand passing a law prohibiting a *requirement* to wear a mask, but – taking your freedom to wear what you want?? How does that comport with their rhetoric about freedom???
It actually creates a funny situation because it's mostly little old ladies like me who wear them. We are NOT the ones who are going to get stopped and questioned. You are allowed to explain to police why you're wearing one, but you have to pull the mask down so they can see your face.
Wow🤦♀️ Back in the 1990s, when there was no such thing as red states or blue states, I was considering moving to NC to get away from the high cost of living in the DC suburbs. It didn't work out – and now I'm so glad it didn't! All our top MD state officials, and a majority of both houses, are Dem💙
I think the mask is a solidarity wave! I see another person with a mask and it's like a little sign that announces "this is the one person in this room with whom you can communicate like an adult"
I live in a rural desert ranching/farming community. Drivers out here wave at each other all the time. But if pickups or bigger are involved, the waves become a little more special.
Getting the "looks" bc I was sick and had a cold sore so I wore a mask. It also keeps my face covered going out in the cold. Not stifling like a scarf. And. With what happened the last time it was in charge? I think imma keep wearing it.
Except most Harley riders.
They're the poodles of the motorcycle world,
overhyped, yappy and snappy and full of ego that they can't possibly back up.
🤣
It was the very last thing on the agenda at a super long meeting and we were all so tired we didn’t realize the flaws in the motion that passed just before adjoining — a tongue wag. 🤦♂️
I had a moment like this recently with a fellow passenger on the train! As I sat across from them, we gave each other a little nod and smize seeing we were both masked. It was a nice connection amidst a busy commute.
I always smile inside my mask as an sign of respect & acknowledgement of all those covid savvy maskers.
I'm sure it's reciprocated in return.
Berated often when out masking, however I'll continue to mask so as to show compassion & empathy for my fellow human.
Let’s riff on that idea a little more. I’d love a secret handsign for Never Trumpers. Not a flashy Hunger Games move that could get you detained if things turn ugly, but a subtle salute like the European “help me” sign of trafficking victims. Ideas?
Yeah. The mask is the wave. I’ve noticed that other masked people are more oft to sit next to me on the bus b/c I’m masked as well. We’re obviously more interested in keeping others/ourselves safe.
I invented something. Peace sign/pointing finger/thumbs up in quick succession. Pointing finger is for “on the one.” reference to the beat in music, particularly funk.

I definitely give other masked people the nod
BACON WRAPPED SCALLOPS!
Dude, typing dumb shit is cathartic. I can see why you do it.

I use the descriptor "man" lightly.
Maskers haven't had time to develop distinct looks and castes yet.
I’m not a big fan of cake! For real. I’ll eat it like, but never buy it.
But yeah, there’s no doubt in my mind there are plenty of bike snobs on the road. I pity them 💅
The 'scooby wave' is absolutely a thing.
I also notice every convertible i see... Too many do not have their top down

We both had masks on. 🙂

We just look at each other.
And staring daggers at the person who is loudly attempting to prevent their lungs from making an escape instead of drowning in their chest does not.
