Math fascinates me. Mostly because I'm not smart enough...but the question of whether math is a fundamental thing, just an inescapable fact born of the universe, or something that we made up has actually made me lose sleep.

Math existed before philosophy, but math and logic are married, not accidentally, through geometry. Philosophy is in some universities, listed under humanities, but math always stands alone.
