Right? "Falling for" strips them of their well-deserved agency, they are funding it, deliberately, because it benefits them!!! This is so obvious that it makes me feel like I have spiders in my brain when people talk around it.
Faux Spews and Frightwing radio ARE "news" to a large subset of people. Decades of pushing bias, that is now their Universe. Faux enforces it's RW "programming " by using "News" on every screen. EVERY SCREEN.
Neither of these outlets is even capable of acknowledging that a cornerstone of modern Republican power is extremely well funded and effective propaganda
It's surreal to watch and it makes me a little crazy
I don’t think it’s the cornerstone I think it’s the damn whole edifice so to speak
Once the fragmentation of information dispersal happened (turn to cable then social media etc) - it’s astounding to me how easy it became to radicalise segments of the general public
i will never forget how i reached out to you reconnecting after maybe a decade asking if where i was working at the time was essentially a Conservative disinfo propaganda farm & you confirmed it it was like getting the They Live sunglasses after the 8 minute one take fight scene
I’m curious about this practice, actually. I wonder how many people have removed even impressive parts of their resume because they don’t want to be associated with the particular company.
Friends worked at Twitter when it was Twitter, because companies on LinkedIn can change profiles their pages now say they worked for X
I was in the first big under 30 list, discussion among those circles is caution about where that's included or avoided, opens doors in some circles but slams others
There's a lot of things terribly wrong about those charts but the fundamental problem is the idea that bias towards the status quo/centrism isn't actually bias.
They're just foundational wrong a lot, too. Like MSNBC isn't really "far left;" outside of some semi left wing prime top spots the programming is chock full of republicans
And again, absolving those billionaires and electeds and public figures who spread the lies as dupes, when it's pretty clear most (pillow guy, Sid Powell may be exceptions) don't actually believe what they're sharing.
Just to be THAT Guy for a second... I agree that CNN is largely garbage and all but they can't force people to watch their shows and if they were to suddenly become informative most of their viewers would leave. So I can't blame them entirely for this shit? It's a bit of a chicken and egg thing.
It’s because an entire political party, and the apparatus around it, especially the billionaires funding it, have decided that since facts & reality make their movement look bad for most people, they will just lie about everything. And spend billions doing so.

Really incredibly sick of all these eleventh-hour pearl-clutchers who had a solid 18 months to warn Americans.

But that we viewers (and readers of WaPo, NYT, etc.) have to abandon them. We have to take some of the responsibility.
More like,”…are complicit in spreading…”
Completely unexplainable.
A mystery for the ages.
