I've never seen that album artwork before, but clearly it is based on symbols from Rainer Wehinger's score interpretation for Ligeti's Artikulation.

It took the more experimental elements of Souvlaki (like Sing and Souvlaki Space Station) to their natural conclusion, but it always felt a little detached to me. Individually, several of the tracks were great, but it never felt like a cohesive whole. the good tracks still sound great, mind.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed it at the time and still enjoy it today. Love machine gun, and the way the whole album just washes over you. I'm glad they came back, was good to see these tracks played live

I have read that Mark Van Hoen (Locust) also influenced this sound. He and Halstead shared a house.

They more recently(ish, not really that recent) did a project together named #blackheartedbrother, and have appeared on each other's works over the years.
