Extortion (for Trump to get $) is fed by fear, defeat it by being unafraid, ready & willing to stand together. Trump says he'll use the Army to invade Mexico. It's against POSSE COMMITATUS to use them against citizens. Will we stand in front of the border like Muslims in front of Swedish Jews.
I cannot help but cry as these countries, who have been threatened by orange-anus-mouth, are coming to our aid. I am grateful beyond words. I cannot wait until we can once again be proud of our country.
It is cathartic and it'll be a bit before I don't need to do it anymore. I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling this way. Besides, all of our "rising above" hasn't done shit. I'm angry and sad now and processing all this will take some time.
No doubt, we are. As a woman, seeing the prospect of my daughter and granddaughter losing their autonomy, of losing our voice to vote, of being squashed under the heel of these ignorant misogynists, I'm angry as hell. Better is down the road a piece, but not today.
How many non celebrity and non wealthy people overwhelmingly helped firefighters and are not getting shout-outs by the media for helping..
Yep.. lets keep praising the celebrities and wealthy people for being decent in their communities but ignore the peasants who also have helped, who lost more...
Because almost nobody cares if average rando does anything unless it is someting superduper. But when somebody with a big name steps up, people pay attention. The concept is called "Leading by example"
The measure of a person - how they act when no one’s watching. I’ve started seeing videos of complainers, who do nothing, and people like this, who help. Heroes!
He’s a kid. Steve doesn’t work that much anymore. Age gap.
Take it easy. I could be pretty critical of the press – but the LA media has been covering this 24/7 and trying to help as much as they can. People have a right to know what’s going on.
That may be, but he’s been out there for days. Helping moving cars, checking houses-it’s pretty heroic. It’s at least neighborly, decent and incredibly proactive.
In a fire like that staying to help is heroic because he is risking his life just by staying. Any of those cars he is moving could get a spark in the wrong place and blow up.
A reminder that slebs are just people. But to me the real slebs are all the non-professional firefighters who are brave enough and concerned enough to step up WITHOUT the media hounding them with a mic.
I don't think "hero" applies here. He was helping move cars, not running out of burning buildings. Grateful for his decision to stay behind and help instead of moving out of the region. He's above selfless, but below "hero".
Oh, what a shock—the orange-faced, convicted felon spews more lies, and the brain-dead MAGAts eat it up like scripture. Meanwhile, real heroes are saving lives while his delusional ego creates chaos for everyone else. Keep worshiping your grifter king. #DenyDeposeDefend
Everyone should take a moment and read some of the comment sections of online news stories about the fires. The hate and rage spewing out of "Christian" Trump supporters is disgusting. How people can hold such contempt for celebrities who donated MILLIONS to the NC relief fund, escapes me.
It's non-stop. It's absolutely repulsive and disgusting and it doesn't seem to matter the deaths, the destruction, the loss. It's just so fucking hateful.
Meh. Those people were always there. We just didn’t hear from them before social media … they were just in their nutso, John Birch society enclaves…. I bypass nutsos like that just like a I walk past the homeless man yelling about nonsense on the street.
What a perfect comment...thanks. It all goes back to the old first rule of journalism: if it bleeds, it leads. Best ignored, or maybe these days better to say, scrolled past. Anyway, thanks again.
Nearly everything I see on Bluesky has been supportive and empathetic. The MAGAts on Facebook are all “that’s what those libtards deserve.” The worst I’ve seen from anyone on the left has talked about “karma” for James Woods, specifically, while still being empathetic to everyone else.
American Red Cross workers are helping southern California residents fleeing from the massive & fast-moving wildfires that have destroyed homes of all kinds & sizes. The Red Cross is focused on making sure everyone has a safe place to stay & no one faces this heartbreaking crisis alone. DONATE
Let’s all support Steve and watch The Big Green. That movie (for a weird Disney movie about kids in Texas forming a soccer team) carries a strong and wildly relevant story line of immigration, anti-immigration reactions, and triumph. Just rewatched it recently and oooooof. It hits.
If a regular citizen helped no one would hear about it. So many people have lost their homes, more non celebrities than celebrities, but the media seems more interested in interviewing them than any of the little people who lost everything.
I don't agree. It appears, from the news reports, that only celebrities lost houses, but send money to help them out. They don't need help, crying James Woods has 3 other houses he can go live in. It is going to hurt the little people a lot more. Let's hear from them.
I am not big on actors. When I met Jimmy Buffet he offered to take me to meet Tommy Lee Jones and also get his autograph. I told him “He’s just an actor. You’re a musician and songwriter” (Imagine awe in my voice.)
In retrospect I thought Jimmy got a big kick out of that.
As I’ve said before, I think Steve deserves the Tarantino comeback treatment. I always crack up when Mahoney puts super glue in Captain Harris’s shampoo.
Absolutely. And honestly the way Hollywood works his agent is already fielding calls. He’s a hero. May he have a well-deserved career resurgence because he’s always been a golden retriever
They are way too busy blaming fish, women and people of color for the fires. Thankfully people like Mr. Guttenberg are there helping instead of running to be on joe rogans incel show to push hate.
Yet. We don’t know their names, yet. Under these circumstances, I couldn’t fault anyone for getting away as fast as possible, which, IMO, makes those who do stay to help the very definition of Hero.
We need more people like this in the world. More attention on these types of selfless acts. Less attention on bombastic idiots threatening war on Denmark, you know….
& there's that amazing food man who's making wholesome food on the side of the street & handing it out for free! I can't remember his name but what a superstar!
Jerry: Sid left the keys in the car.
George: Who's Sid?
Jerry: He's this guy in the neighborhood, parks cars on the block.
George: What do you mean?
Jerry: He moves them from one side of the street to the other so you don't get a ticket.
I know a guy who got to hang out with him several times in New York. Said he was a down-to-earth guy and cool to hang out with. More confirmation here.
The Gute! The kind of guy who hires caterers for his birthday party, cancels the party, forgets to tell the caterers and when they show up to his house he throws a party just for them anyway.
I love how, when the reporter recognized his name, he just said, "Ya, I'm an actor," and then moved on, focused on helping people know to leave their keys in the car, helping deal with the fire - no ego.
Honestly, if I lived in California, I would've taken the day off from work and tried to help out where I could. Glad this person did their best to help.
I was watching video of a bulldozer pushing abandoned cars off the roadway and there were so many, it had trouble clearing just one lane for fire trucks.
If Fire 🔥 displacement is an issue for you consider moving to Oklahoma and working remotely. Here is a program that gives you 10k to try it out. https://www.tulsaremote.com/program-details
When I was on Instagram, I followed Steve. He would take long daily walks while posting his daily thoughts, spiritual feelings and affirmations and such. You quickly realized this was the kind of soul many of us can only aspire to be.
His assistance in the fires does not surprise in the least.
- "Comcast is described as a family business. Brian L. Roberts, its chairman and CEO, is the son of founder Ralph J. Roberts (1920–2015). Roberts owns or controls about 1% of all Comcast shares but all of the Class B supervoting shares, giving him an "undilutable 33% voting power over the company".
Sky TV and News, the programmer, is owned and operated by Murdock and Comcast is owned by John Malone a trump crony who now owns CNN. I worked in this business so I know what I am talking about. What is your point?
Yes. The movie segment got sold to Disney, but the “news” segment (listed on the stock exchange as entertainment, or at least their profile suggests that) is still retained by the Murdochs.
Remember reading about someone who, after doing something heroic, said heroism isn't necessarily a matter of courage, but opportunity...but how many have the opportunity to do something heroic, and walk away.
I agree that helping is great but singling out a famous person as a “hero” while average people are doing far more and getting no recognition, is a slap in the face to people who aren’t famous.
THE REAL HEROES ARE THE AVERAGE PEOPLE DEFENDING THEIR HOMES!!!
But is he crying on CNN about his multi-million dollar home that he can easily replace with his multi-million dollar bank account like an entitled prick?
sad that he did all this to help others. i hope people realize he was amongst the people who lost their homes and yet he continued to help others. he deserves so much more than thanks
🙏🏻💦G-d bless all of the named & nameless heroes who are willing to brave fierce adversities in order to help out others!🙏🏻💦May the likes of them live on into infinity!🙋🏼♀️💦💙🇺🇸

Thank you Mexico. 🇲🇽 🇺🇸
Yep.. lets keep praising the celebrities and wealthy people for being decent in their communities but ignore the peasants who also have helped, who lost more...
Why does this need to be explained to you?
#FreeTheBear
He's aged better than I have though 😉

I'd reserved "hero" for the firefighters.
Not life threatening though, unlike what firefighters are faced with.
In awe of LAFD and CalFire.
Really, you absolutely should read this.

(Not you George ☺️)
They need to reboot the movies, with the original cast who are still with us.
Be like Steve.
Be like Steve.
He ALWAYS talks about how important it is to care about people.
He’s a true mensch
Heart warming, just a real guy. ❤️
In retrospect I thought Jimmy got a big kick out of that.
Talking with Jimmy Buffet must have been wonderful. A good moment to remember.
No insurance...
He doesn'tbelieve in global warming..
But he was too busy being an actual good guy, so I won't hold it against him 🙂
While cowards , like Musk, post stupid shit.
Middle class people cannot shoulder the cost of these wealthy asshats.
Everybody loses in a disaster.
George: Who's Sid?
Jerry: He's this guy in the neighborhood, parks cars on the block.

Contributing to the problem is money that should have gone to the Fire Department was put towards the Police Department to criminalize homelessness.
Now with the LA Fires there are more homeless people. Trump & Musk will worsen it.
This approach is better.
His assistance in the fires does not surprise in the least.
He was doing all that with no idea if his home was still standing.
Look for the helpers. They're who matter.
I much prefer the one from the A-team.
Good for Steve Guttenberg, & those like him.
THE REAL HEROES ARE THE AVERAGE PEOPLE DEFENDING THEIR HOMES!!!
I hope Steve’s home and loved ones are safe. He’s a good egg.
