Pete Buttigieg's sexual orientation is of ZERO consequence to me, however his actions while he was in office were impeccable representing the American people and this country. This cannot be said for any of the losers in the White House at this time.
Merrick Garland, the stay at home closet Democratic misogynistic white racists, anti-vaxxers, Jill Stein waste my vote voters, the "but her emails" crowd, Mitch McConnell and the GOP, and now Chuck Schumer and the ten own this shit show. Hope you're all happy. It's time to pick a side.
IMO he's the best/strongest Democratic candidate the party could run in 2028. Sadly, almost everybody also adds the "but he's gay" tag to his candidacy. And apologies, Mr. Takei, as I'm not taking you to task. I'm just identifying the sad truth that many wouldn't vote for him due to that fact.
Being gay is that last thing he is to America. A genius. A master of rhetoric. A natural born politician . A great father. A wonderful husband that happens to be gay! And ya, I'm straight.
Right now Pete is EXACTLY what this country needs. He is intelligent, level headed with military experience. During the 2024 election he handled Fox News interviews with skills of a surgeon.
Pete is just another fake neoliberal option. If you want change stop choosing imitation progressives and look for the real thing.

First, it wasn't that great 10 months ago, 10 years ago or in 1776. James Madison set up the US plutocracy.
Second, who cares if he's gay. (Not a question.) I imagine that was said tongue in cheek, however.
Third, Pete's a neoliberal and a huge part of the problem.
"Pete may be gay"? No, Pete IS gay and married to a great husband. This wording shows that even the most staunch gay rights advocates are are still afflicted by anti-gay bias.
Next time consider this wording, "Pete is gay and a straight talker."
Takei was using a figure of speech, and he knows what he's writing. I suggest you look for anti-gay bias amongst the people who truly deserve such criticism.
I get the nuance in your statement. I'm not sure the first half is appropriate to point out as it has no relevance to the topic.
I'm pretty sure you have no intent of being mean or anything like that.
From a heterosexual.
As a child, my dad told me that if I didn’t judge a book by its cover, never make a snap judgment about a person. I know it was one of the most important lessons he ever taught me. I would be proud to support Pete Buttigieg for any office in this country including President!
I'm bi, my spine curves two ways and my one leg is forever shorter than the other. I can still keep it straight, so why not that demented butternut in the White House?
@georgetakei.bsky.social "May, but"? Pshaw! Pete's great, no may or but about it.
I think Mayor Pete is a great example of how little importance his orientation is when it comes down to just living life. It annoys me to hear "he'd be great as POTUS or VPOTUS, but..." No but about it.
Also one of the few dems that have the guts to go on Faux News. I think he has the qualities of being a great president. Unfortunately you live in a country so homophobic it will not happen. Too many prefer a mentally deranged, low IQ , hateful , narcissistic old man. Nothing great about the USA!
We desperately need a giant march straight down the Mall in DC, heading towards the Capitol. These small demonstrations here and there aren’t enough. But I can’t get anyone of national stature to serve as figurehead, including Pete B. I know there’s a lot in his plate but he’d be perfect for this.

He’s the most authentic, self-aware public servant out there. I knew he’d be POTUS one day after his first interview with Maddow.

Bizarro World levels of stupid statements all day, every day, from the highest offices in the US :/
