The purpose of business is to make a profit for the business owner.
The purpose of government is to provide order and services for the common public good.
What is so difficult about this distinction of purpose?
Because then [insert group I don't like] gets to benefit from common services too, silly goose! If I make it into a business, I can pick and choose who I want to hate, er, exclude, er... serve...
... I can pick and choose who I want to serve, and who I want to rationalise gets limited services, because they can't get the same as me, and "equity" and "social inclusion" are dirty words.
I hate having to understand how hate works, sometimes.
Is it true DJT gets an annual pension of $90,776.00 a year from Screen Actors Guild? If so, any chance SAG could make a surgical Budget Cut on his pension?
I feel like a Plumber may actually be able to muddle through that job, it's not the tools or pipes they are used to, but it's still somewhat similar. Trump is to Politicians as Dynamite is to child's toy.
This is a pet peeve of mine, he IS a politician... He was President of the United States twice, one cannot be more of a politician than the President of the United States.
Old enough to remember when Ross Perot ran for president and people said "what does a businessman know about running the country?"
Sure didn't age well!
People wanting businessmen as the leader of the country baffle me. Even successful businessmen! I mean, go to your nearest Amazon warehouse. Ask anyone there how much they enjoy their time as an employee there. Now imagine wanting those conditions for the whole country, 24/7. What a nightmare!
Itβs like betting on the Generals in a game against the Globetrotters, maybe youβve got a feeling that the Generals are due! (Hat tip to Krusty the Clown)
The plumber is smarter than Trump.
I know most children and adults are.
Think Trump being a convicted felon and rapist should have been a red flag but hey in America anything is possible and millions proved that.
We need more civil servants who are actually interested in serving all the people in a meaningful way as politicians, and fewer rich white men who are interested in serving only themselves and the few.
Wtf is a 'business man' anyway? What business? What do you make? Invent? Sell? Service? It's why I've always hated the Apprentice. Trying to pretend business man is an actual job.
Oh no, for sure- the corner shop guy would probably be an excellent politician, because he probably takes a moment to talk to his regulars and ask after them and so on, he's in touch with what people need, want, and find beneficial. The problem that I'm identifying is that we're not taught...
...to want to be like the guy who owns the corner shop. We're indoctrinated to worship billionaires from a young age. Greed is enculturated into a not-insignificant portion of society.
It's a "too much is never enough" situation that some people fall head long into and end up as horrible people. π
True. And yet we already know that inherited wealth breeds cruelty and narcissism. We have built a system designed to breed entire armies of horrid entitled snobs
I hope their next colonoscopy is done by the tunnel boring machine they made the channel tunnel with.
Covered in barbed wire and capsaicin. Followed by flossing with a Douglas fir. Then a professional alligator wrestler reaches waaaay up in there and pulls the fucker inside out.

Not being a politician is kind of the problem. You don't run a government like a business. A business's goal is to earn profit. If a government consistently has a surplus income, it's either over taxing the people or not investing enough into serving the people. Or both.
I say electrician. Plumber is too close for this analogy to work precisely. Still good mind you, but plumber and proctologist are closer than policy maker and whatever Trump is.
I was so sick of hearing idiots say they voted for him because he is a businessman. First of all he is a shit businessman. Secondly, the government is not a fucking business and should not be run like one. Only a complete idiot would think that.
He simply took more for himself than the businesses were bringing in, without realising it because he doesn't keep accounts.
There's a vastly better manager running my town's bus service!
Those of us from the NY press who covered him for decades agree. He's a rumpled suit filled with greed, malice (toward everyone) and occasionally crap.
Because this multi-bankrupt is a pathological liar who bombards the country and the media with his countless, constant lies, disinformation, and conspiracies, and apparently more than half of Americans love this liar.

George W. Bush, an oilman who could find oil in West Texas, whose business went bust.
Donald J. Trump.

I actually think they lost the full statement: Donald Trump: Bad for Business, Man.
What the hell is wrong with Americans they might think a businessman is something to be held in high esteem
Its as if life isn't complicated enough due to an excess of these self important shitbags
Monopoly
Play restaurants
Play hair salons
Play cash registers
Play kitchens
Play grocery shopping
Play nail salons
All these things involve money.
Western children are literally programmed into domestic and capitalist roles practically from birth.
You're right commerce is drilled into us at a young age, but i dont think shopkeepers are a problem
