The facts are, the ACA saved millions with pre-existing conditions and set standards for care.
But now, more than a decade later, with what we now know, it’s time to take the insurance companies out of the mix.
The subsidies they get are enormous. We don’t need them as middlemen.

Health insurance giants hit a jackpot after Obamacare: profits soared 230%, subsidies flooded in, and market monopolies bloomed. Consumers? Left with skyrocketing premiums while taxpayers bankroll this legalized cash grab. The ACA didn’t just insure people—it insured corporate greed.

Collect premiums, take costs of operation, including CEO pay and bonuses off the top, what’s left gets divided up to pay for healthcare. Any surprise the job of healthcare providers is to deny as much as possible?
The wealthiest country the world has ever seen: Yes, exactly! We don't have the money to pay for that.
😞🤦🏾🤷🏾
Nobody should be barred from receiving medical care they need to live & nobody should be bankrupted for surviving.
Our Hospitals have become Taj Mahals.
Procedures cost more here than in any other country, sometimes by a factor of 10.
Most physicians are not overpaid, but some specialties really are. But it's the powerful hospital orgs that are >
Single payer after decades will necessitate a reevaluation of the wealth associated with medicine and hospitals. That's a powerful group of people.
While they're locked in this orthogonal blame embrace, they each continue to profit from the massive overhead available.
We simply can't fix this > while retaining < massively profitable hospital chains.
Insurance companies are acting like parasites on the parasites in some cases. Getting rid of all for-profit insurance only works if hospital/procedure prices are down.
Before insurance, my meds are $20K per infusion 6x/yr. That’s $120K a year. My salary wouldn’t cover that.
Until there’s a viable solution for true healthcare, insurance is the only option.
Mark,
could you bring this to Elmo’s attention in Elmo’s capacity as Sec of DOGE … ?
Some European nations have been successful in curtailing the insurer role, even making them non-profit if they exist

That seems like it will be a somewhat moderating force - the fact that many of the GOP in congress have constituents that arent hard right/
I got more experiences around this including proposed 20% cuts to Medicaid. Such bullshit. It makes me feel like I'm just engaging in exercises in futility. Americans just don't care until the shit storm hits them. I ❤️ my country, but I don't want to get old here.
About time for V.2 now that we all know more
Together, we can reclaim our democracy. #MoneyOutOfPolitics #EndDarkMoney
End the deathly corruption!!
My healthcare is not a “subsidy”
And the US will be more productive when we aren’t struggling to get people on the phone about our basic survival all the time.
How incredibly corrupt
This lobby destroys our health
It must end
#UniversalHeathcareNow
These large subsidy payments would then be converted to a new universal healthcare system per individual?
Might even help organizational/corporation healthcare costs? There would need to be a cost analysis 🧐
it's ridiculous that we haven't had medicare extended to everyone by now.
You are correct we need to get the insurers out, they are an impediment to health care, but they have strong lobbyist in DC.
HOWEVER, Traditional Medicare Supplement Plans still permit discrimination against individuals w/ preexisting conditions!!
Need to change this ASAP!!
….Though I was going to switch to a United Health Care plan, and after what I’ve recently learned about UHC ….😡
(Though traditional Medicare doesn’t allow them to withhold care, just coverage. Only Medicare can w/hold care)
Those people are never the nominees. When they are, they get primaried by AIPAC-backed neoliberals.
Let's go. I totally support this, as it will also reduce our debt and make us more competitive.
Insurance is off the rails in this country.
Damn! 😤
It is barbaric that this wealthy country doesn’t provide Medicare For All. Administrative overhead is 3%. Private Health Insurance companies charge almost 10x that amount.
They WILL find a way around PEC's without being checked. Under Bush & prior they would straight out deny people at high risk. Appeal. Ha. They lie and let you in OR and pull the plug. Prior to OC
One example - why does the most effective blood thinner (Eliquis) cost so much? Answer - big pharma delayed generic status.
The market would flock to you, and the criminal insurance companies would die a slow death.
Making them all nonprofit would mean not sharing profits with shareholders or officers, but keeping the funds in house.
Paying profits to shareholders instead of paying doctors and covering patients is the problem.
Then I say let there be more Luigis.
MAGA math at its best.
TRUTH
Soak the rich asap.
Step up or step aside and donate.
Or maybe we should stop electing celebrities, expecting billionaires to save us, and overturn Citizens United. 🤷♂️
Always have been
buy yachts and hard titted
girlfriends? Won't someone think of the CEOs???
Insurance companies are the death panels.
We have the ability to be so much more, but runaway greed and lifetime politicians who are nothing more than officers that work for companies that rape Americans.
They will fight to end $35 cap on insulin next
Who's surprised?
lol. Shit talking Sox fans will never work in MA.
For some fucking reason they still ran her as the Gubernatorial candidate a 2 or 3 years later.

But you know well it’s to big to fail in America
Never been abt affordable healthcare- it’s an industry too big in terms of paying off ( in America it’s called legal contributions… ) elected politicians.
They have billions to lobby our government.
