The first 10 minutes of E1 had me frozen in shock and then in tears at the terrifying scenes of the arrest (kid same age). Further in, I was still frozen in shock because how the F as parents do we protect them from this? Exactly at the age where everytime I open my mouth i just get *eyerolls* back
I posted the same thing several weeks ago after binging it. Only criticism was not understanding some of the dialogue. I felt I needed a translation screen at the bottom of the picture. Stephen Graham was STUPDENOUS. The whole film was a work of art.
Stephen Graham is from Liverpool in the north of England. That accent is unique, musical and delightful. He is an incredibly talented actor and is the master of multiple English accents but I love it when he uses his native Liverpudlian dialect. Can’t wait to see “ Adolescence”.
I can only do one episode at a time because it’s so intense, but, as a teacher, I appreciate the teen underworld issues it’s exposing. Most adults would be shocked at the world their kids inhabit online. We need to do more to educate and protect them.
I have a 13 year old son who I worry about constantly due to the external influences in his life (other kids, tik tok influencers, general toxic attitudes floating around out there in society). After episode 3, after I wiped away the tears, I found him and hugged him and told him I love him.
Within the first few minutes of episode one it was established that there was an accused person. In the trailer to this series it is established that there is an accused person.
I don't believe it is overhyped. It's a very serious issue that needs to be addressed with our young people, ideally in schools .
The Tate incel movement is horrific and extremely damaging to young minds
LUV, It is a little triggering for me tho. My stepson was a raging violent kid that punched me in the face at 16 and went to juvi.He didn't really learn until recently when he became a dad, what he really did to me. He finally apologized at 30 years old.I am glad I stuck by him. Could've been worse!
It was horrible. His mom was telling him to hate me on top of it all, which made him more violent towards me. I felt threatened for my life a few times. My marriage wasn't doing well either which is now over, but I stayed until that kid went on the straight and narrow. 20 years! Got these two! #Nana
It is overhyped because it's another " Toxic masculinity, all men, yadda yadda" deflection program when we damn well know what the kids who commit these acts look like.
I don't believe it is overhyped. It's a very serious issue that's needs to be addressed ,ideally in schools with young teens . The Tate incel movement is horrific
Trying to convince anyone I know to watch it… a piercing look in the mirror of our times, touches so many aspects of society that are negatively impacted by social media, misinformation, bigotry and misogyny. Excellent TV ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wasn't it? I could not look away.
Felt all the emotions from both characters.
Such a dark (as based in truth) story.
So important for parents of preteens & teens.
Didn’t know that. I finished Adolescence this week, started Toxic Town last night. They both have a similar raw, gritty, working class undertone to them. Brilliant pieces of drama.
It just ended so abruptly. I think they could have added one more episode to give Jamie more insight, and expound on his emotional state (w/o spoiling that's all I can say).
I just finished it 2 nights ago. Incredible acting, loved the documentary style. But left me wondering “what is happening to these young kids?” They are being subjected to a world they are unprepared for.
Incredibly well done. I didn’t want to like it due to the subject-matter but it is award-worthy. (Have read some criticism that it portrays the white kid as a societal problem when kids of others races are shown to have cultural, poverty and gang issues)
Give this a watch https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WUmrllKw3Xs about the amazing @trukunitedfc.bsky.social and my fantastic daughters journey with the only football club willing to let her play.
I'm only two episodes in. It's one of the best shows I've watched. The acting, the cinematography, the direction, the plot... It's perfection. It's bound to win big awards. If it doesn't, I'll riot.
Sorry, you are correct! Yes, I had watched episode one and had assumed it was done in the technique I described which I saw/heard about for something else, where they made it look like one shot.
Seems like this actually was one shot which is crazy.
I’ve watched it too. Clearly all single shots. Barantini is known for this. Netflix even released behind-the-scenes clips on one of the episodes to show how they captured a particularly incredible transition from procedural inside the police station to the scene of the crime across town via drone.
We saw the first two episodes last night. The story and acting are great, but holy cow, it seems they filmed the last 10 minutes of E2 with a drone to make a single shot with not cuts! Insanity!

As a dad of 2 boys, one of them the boys age, I was sobbing at the pain he was going through and all the mistakes he might have made.
It was an experience.
So, so good though.
The scene with the psychologist 🫣
and I got smoke in my eyes watching that scene
Apparently, that’s all it was.
I thank you.
The Tate incel movement is horrific and extremely damaging to young minds
and it works perfectly
Amazing
Felt all the emotions from both characters.
Such a dark (as based in truth) story.

and doesn't let go
.. and in some ways so full of love
It's heartbreaking and absolutely brilliant
Its truly essential
Owen Cooper playing Jamie Miller was a revelation. I can't believe he's never acted before. 🤯
💯 never again!!!
Seems like this actually was one shot which is crazy.
