It’s important, with the head of NIH calling for halting mRNA vaccines, to be unambiguous that the concerns and solutions of the replication crisis (whatever they may be) do not generalize to vaccines because the science is damn good, multiple lines of consistent evidence spanning decades.

The thread I was replying to above was arguing that we can’t address the extrascientific motivations for replication, but we can make sure we do replications well.

Asserting we’ve no place as scientists to make sense of why and how it’s being weaponized is carte blanche to do so.

The extrascientific motivations for replication sadly come from inside as I explained in my talk so it cannot be separated from its source. You cannot, actually, make sure that you perform it well, if you're performing it in a capacity it cannot deliver.

Also hyping up context-free procedural details as good practice will definitely be used justify trumping the motivation for the study and all the convergent evidence obtained elsewhere with "exploratory" dredging done in the replication data because some other analyses were preregistered.

Back when I was at science it was just taken for granted that I was anti-reform, and people would write essays and do podcasts on these quotes and how the movement would ‘persevere’ in spite of it rather than, you know, listening and taking the threat seriously
