It sometimes feels like a black pit we'll never climb out of. I just feel abandoned by my government, abandoned by our justice system, abandoned by my neighbors who voted for him. It's crushing.
Thank you π, the next four years are gonna be terrifying and just an over all circus shit show from hell since we have toddlers masquerading as adults in power π
Apparently we donβt and half our countrymen are insane or insane religious nuts. Itβs more madding for myself than fear. And depressing. America is spoiled & weβre getting a spanking we likely wonβt forget. And the worst of it is the dummies that βwantβ this, are not engaged in any way politically.
Itβs a great analogy because when you try reasoning with said children, you get a tantrum. π
But I am in the right side of things and βweβ do have the smartest among us. Many are standing and will stand in the breach and protect whatever we have to. πΊπΈ
In a lot of ways, weβre still dealing with the consequences of Brexit and we will be for a while. The only thing we could really do was hold on as best we could, and elect the tories out at the first opportunity. But there are bright spots. Hold the people you love close. π
Don't waste your time on shot shows. Focus on your local environment and take care of those around you. If we all do that, we create a national outcome.
Contempt for the conmen, compassion for the conned. There may be dribs and drabs of the MAGA movement who might start to realise they've been hoodwinked, just as there are brexiteers who regret it now. I found it's best not to compound their embarrassment but treat them with empathy.
No. None of us who voted against this deserve it. And even those who did who may lose their lives because they were sold a lie do not deserve it. Let's not rationalize malignance. Respectfully, of course.
Is this "1984"? (I don't remember the scene, just its freaky presentation.)So the connection between that and the temporary delay in the fall of feudal structures is ...?
(Help me. I'm the victim of American education.)
Not sure what this is implying. The UK is one of the most surveilled countries in the world with some of the furthest reaching surveillance laws, once again, in the world.
Were I the English, those thought wouldn't be so nice. We just made Putin's proxy our Dear Leader, and it is surrounded by cronies of a like mind. If Trump isn't dead inside of a year, the U.S. pulls out of NATO, Putin destroys Ukraine, then on into Poland, etc., and the EU goes to war to stop him.
Appreciate it. I was in Iceland during the election. Met only 2 people from the UK & they were white nationalists. One was a full-on aggressive in my face Trump supporter. Came at me out of nowhere to say how wonderful it was that Trump won. I said I was a Harris supporter & she went on a tirade.
Iβm so sorry you experienced that! In my experience, most Brits are NOT fans of the evil pumpkin man. If this brings you a small amount of joy, the first time he visited the UK he was greeted by a crowd holding up a giant balloon of a screaming orange baby with terrible hair and tiny hands.
Oh I saw that & was delighted. I visit the UK a lot so my experience stunned me. Iβve never met a fan of the angry tangerine in the UK. This woman was more aggressive than anyone Iβve encountered here at home. And it was the day after the election so I was a mess. She seemed to delight in my pain.
Thank you. Iceland is magical so I did. But she made a mark. No doubt she is a huge Farage fan. Her parting shot actually made me laugh because it was so trumpian. She give me no option to speak as she ranted and then announced that I seemed to be an angry person and stormed off. Pure projection.
Thanks. I some how feel more concerned for Europe and Ukraine than for myself. I feel if we can defeat Russia and Putin, we will stop this crazy slide into autocracy all over western civilization. For now, the fight is in your hands. Trump will not help Ukraine and Europe.
