But, the era of limited regulated TV 'airwaves" and major newspapers held in a quasi trust for the public good (Meyer, Graham, Ochs) is long dead. Large entities with major business in front of regulators who has announced that the market is open will behave, sadly, predictably.

Critical as I am of the press pool, I guess there's at least some value in them acting as stenographers, as there's no way the White House, THIS White House, should be trusted to provide an accurate readout or recording of things.
