I think this is perceptive, and important, from Rep. Jim Himes.
(In short: You can tell from the texts that Hegseth is reveling in cosplay as a 'Top Gun'-type character. Worth listening to the way Himes puts it.)

Himes: This is his life now. He’s nowhere near qualified for the position he holds, so when he gets on a Signal chat with his buddies and says, ‘We’re a go. Centcom says all in. F-18s,’ it just makes him feel really, really good.
Sadly, of course, it puts our people at risk.

Because the excuse seems to be "oh it was alllll Waltz", but Hegseth would take ownership explicitly (as if he shouldn't know better anyway) by asserting that there are no security issues.
Don't say you've checked on it if you didn't.
But Himes voted to censure Al Green and he’s serving a long sentence in my penalty box.
And when the targets are obliterated, he's almost certainly orgasmic.
Embarrassing. What has happened to our nation?
It also reminded me of playing battleship.
