But I gotta say, some of you have got to stop calling everything you disagree with or doesn’t have every bit of context you want “disinformation.” It’s a silly way to engage.

I really understand your anger and everybody’s anger, but Garland and the DOJ have not gotten enough credit for handling the violent offenders who actually attacked the capital as well as they did. Making such strong examples of those seditious criminals, I believe was very important to our security
They missed the most important part, who gives a shit if a bunch of dumb hillbillies got sentenced... the leaders got away with it and will do worse now
As an aside, “hillbilly” is a much reviled pejorative in my neck of the woods. Your point is valid, but consider if you had used the “n-word” had the insurrectionists been Black. Besides, the actual insurrectionists were from all over the US, not just Appalachia.
It’s an interesting point, and I didn’t know that word referred to people from Appalachia. I would guess the commenter didn’t either, which would make it slightly ironic that you were the one that introduced the association for some readers :) nonetheless, good note, thanks.
I support Garland going after the violent offenders on the ground so strongly. I think it made a difference. Even Trump is backing away from a blanket pardon of those cop attackers. Wrong or right politically, putting those violent offenders in jail FIRST was best for law & order going forward.
how about we call it as we see it? misinformed? weakly argued? not based in facts? hunches without evidence?

what IS a silly way to engage on matters like this is to rely on BELIEFS like those should sway anyone. especially when FACTS are right there for those willing to read them.
Just call them "silly" and "unserious people" and do what you think, please? Christopher Hitchens would say unserious people without evidence do not require a rebuttal. Dismiss them with a "silly."
This longtime left-of-center voter agrees with you 100% on all of this. It is a betrayal to U.S. history that no higher ups are prosecuted for January 6.
But it works for MAGA, and it's the reason why we are where we are. So is doing the right thing and sticking our heads in the sand getting us anywhere?
I think Marcy’s take at @emptywheel.bsky.social makes the most sense - Roberts’ corrupt leadership of the SC is what did the most harm in this situation. I’m sure MG could have done things differently than might have led to a better outcome, but Roberts said fuck you to the rule of law.
Disagreeing with or lacking context more mis- than disinformation. And besides, I pretty much agree with you anyways so prefixes don't apply anyways (to me).

Many on the left act as a mirror to magats in terms of how they execute their beliefs.
I think these unfortunate similarities can be sourced back to your talk with jvl about social media.
It's a problem
Are you under some sort of impressions that there is anything "left" in the US?
Thats funny !
