Not sure why you would even WANT to enable this. Like, why is this even a choice that they're giving us?!
On twitch:

And post shorts to YouTube:

😤👍
However it’s still concerning that this specifies third party ai training only. It doesn’t say we can turn off YouTube/Googles’s in-house ai training. 🫠
man :/
I’m like NO. PLEASE, NO.
Adapt, overcome.
Mb my brain wasn't braining
They often times enable it without telling you
Thanks for rasing awarness about it nonetheless!

That's how these things go. Added as "Off by default" so nobody worries about it, 6 months later "oh yeah that's default on now", and maybe even another 6 months later "Yeah we're just always doing that now, you have no choice"
While I don't want 3rd parties benefitting from it, I also would prefer if AI stayed out of anything creative, period.

Thanks @hanabikun.bsky.social
Thank you
I am getting sick and tired of THIS SHIT

Not thrilled, but it's ethical. It also possibly paves the way for more legal actions if IP is taken without permission.
For UK users it's off by default, for EU I believe it won't even be there as it's not made it through European courts yet!

Be on the look out for this. Not sure if it'll be on allow by default but better safe than sorry (Apologies for the mass tagging)

Low-key I wonder if there’s anything in the works for a video equivalent to Glaze. 🤔
Also I was talking with a friend about this and they mentioned “no first party ai training mentioned though”
It’s interesting they specifically say THIRD party ai training. Not ALL ai training.
it's probably a european law preventing them from doign so that they'll easily manipulate
And also this is only an opt out for THIRD party ai training. Doesn’t say anything about any potential in-house ai training that YouTube/Google is doing
You all need to give more context when it comes to these alerts.
-Where is this setting located.
-Are there any weird or tricky things to know about beforehand.
-What accounts view this differently, if any, creators, casuals, etc.
It was a bar at top of page with it saying said words and clicking "Go to where it is in settings" and it took you there.
Mine was ticked off as defaul so nothing to change. If you tick it, then you're giving permission.
1. Go to your channel.
2. Click on your channel avatar (opens Studio).
3. NOW, go to Settings > Channel > Advanced settings > scroll to bottom
youtube studio > settings > channel > click on "advance settings" tab > scroll down to "third party training" > make your choice.
Admittedly I do use it but only for fake band shit but I atleast prep everything beforehand and make the music myself so really it’s only there for backstory stuff and whatnot
But I’m down to go kicking and screaming and punching into the ai abyss. 😤
-Settings
-Channel
-advanced settings
-scroll to bottom
Plus according to other people we are opt out by default
Keep your eyes peeled.
Honestly glad YouTube is being transparent with this.
Unlike most of the other sites that turn it on without you knowing, in this case when it says you can choose to turn it on, it's actually your choice to turn it on
Only sad that they explicitly make it apply for 'third parties'. There's a case that YouTube has a few legitimate "AI" uses, but I get the impression they hope people stop focusing on Google
“Wdym ‘now’?”
Fuck AI!
Thanks for informing me about this.
Was staring at the profile picture in the image and said "huh... That looks familiar"
I'm guessing they're gonna keep doing it regardless of what I selecr because there's no system of accountability if they use it, anyway.
