legacy social has devolved into a cynical philosophy of eyes on screen. every link click is a failure of the algorithm and UX of the app
if you click a link, you leave the app. you're not going to scroll past another ad, you're not going to juice their numbers of "minutes spent in-app per day"
we care about interconnected data, user-controlled presence, and interjoined application experiences
fundamentally, we care about a network that is greater than the sum of its parts
