there was a lot of ink spilled over ~2021 seeing the largest recorded increase in homicides. Now we're seeing one of largest recorded decreases in homicides. So... the pandemic was unique, and now we're seeing reversion to mean.

It's almost as though there's fundamental flaws in our society's understanding of what crime is and how it works, but surely that can't be right, can it?
