Hi, here in Venezuela (honestly find the “global south” condescending, but whatever) we have benefited historically from the USA. When we owed money to Europe, USA interceded and we didn’t lose a great part of our territory. Colombia lost Panama, Honduras and Chile got coups, we got baseball. 🇻🇪 🧵

Even when they developed the Venezuelan oil industry in the 1930’s we got young Nelson Rockefeller trying to make a name for himself. So he helped introduce supermarkets and worked towards agricultural development. USA companies abided by the Law here when production was growing and left when told.

In general, Venezuelans are pro-USA and that’s why so many people have tried to migrate there. The anti-USA sentiment that you can find here is imported from Cuba. They got a terrible deal since the Spanish War. We have oil so we’ve been treated better than most LATAM countries. 😐
