I prefer veridian... I'm from the US, though, so I'm not really the best at spelling most days. It depends on where you are and how you spell words, it's up to you. Take a stab at it! :)
I'm biased toward Veridian because I have an important fortress/institution in one of my stories name that, explicitly for the color and tropical setting π
I think with the *e* makes it more clear it's about the color, while the *i* hides it a little for subtlety, perhaps.
What's that saying? Great minds think alike? πππ΄ You're totally right about the 'e' thing. I agree it makes Veridian sound much closer to verde/vert... definitely something to consider! Thanks so much for sharing your feedback!!
Oooo looks like B is winning β¨ Thanks so much for the feedback. Would you still feel the same way about B if I told you that there's a Viridian city in pokemon? π π€£π
Oh, that's a clever point! I hadn't made that connection... It's a polluted industrial/mining city with a reactionary eco-punk, upcycled bent. Basically a more prosperous city-state is outsourcing all its manufacturing needs to Veridian/Viridian (and pretending to be self-sufficient in the process)
π€ Veridian makes me think of Meridian, which is middle or a defined pathway. Or even health cause Meridians in the body in TCM. Viridian makes me think of Vivien. (OH the autism and it's fun associations) which Vivien makes me think of someone like Gretchen Wieners. So if you have an advanced or
Gretchen Weiners, I'm dying ππ€£π Thanks for taking the time to share all that π I appreciate it! I'm definitely going to be considering these associations before I pick the final spelling.
I love B because it's unique and stands out and I wish more places stood out in books... BUT I think some readers might find A easier to connect with from a readability standpoint.

OMG I JUST LOOKED THIS UP!! I HAD NO IDEA POKEMON HAD DONE THIS TOO π±π Damn... Well, that makes Veridian a little more appealing π Thanks for the feedback, Kira! π
Veridis means green, so I would expect Veridian to be a city in dense jungle or something. If that fits, go with that option. Otherwise, Viridian is more neutral to me.
Don't ask me why, with e it sounds more scifi to me and with i more fantasy, but that could just be me...
But there's also the Latin root associations with truth (veris, veritas), green (viridis), manliness (vir, think of virility too) maybe even virus/viral that could be taken into consideration

Because, uh...
Because I like it like that.
Apologies for not being more constructive.
But yeah, I still think you should go for it, for your Viridian City will be more than 4 houses, a pokecentre and a gym!
I like that Veridian could simultaneously be a misspelling hinting at green but also like veritas/truth.
Iβm sure which so ever you choose will make an impact! βΊοΈ
Also, that font - while pretty - confused me because the V looked like a B π
It depends on the setting I think.

Viridian = Veer-idian in my head, which I prefer
