I was a goalkeeper in the days when balls had laces. I was always too if you have to dive for a ball you were in the wrong position. Still, it looks spectacular for the camera.
I know that people are saying that the second free kick was technically better, more difficult etc, but as a non-Arsenal fan, in my eyes the first one is a thing of footballing beauty.
If he's a right footed kicker why didn't the net minder have his wall moved over farther towards the net minders left? Protecting against the bending ball like that. You just take your chances with the other side
Yes I thought the net minder might move his wall farther over to the netminders left knowing that this person is right foot kicker and is going to try to bend the ball around the wall? They clearly didn't have them moved over far enough. And leave the other side open on a right footed kicker
Nah. Baseball, softball, lacrosse (but they got padding), field hockey, jai-alai, and dodgeball.
Number 11 didn’t want to be hit in the face. Regulation ball is ~450 grams, place kick speed is ~35meter/s. That rounds out to roughly 2-3 x the force needed for a concussion.

Where's @glooface.bsky.social when you need some straight talking unbiased punditry 🤷
Then the second one, the wall covers one side and the keeper stands in the middle, and takes a step the wrong way as he hits it.
Bloody good free kicks though.
Hope he finally wins something with Arsenal
The Second Goal was like the parting of the waves
Yes.

I do enjoy football.
