OMG I do this with lore videos all the time when I building Lego or doing craft projects (when itβs not disaster or crime videos) I know Iβve watched βAlan Wake 2 Story Explained Videoβ by gamingharry on YouTube about 4 times before I bought the actual game.
Doing it right now. Lol. Listening to Legend of Billie Jean and playing a game while looking at Blue Sky's posting.... Don't you just love multitasking?
Dear Azul! I keep forgetting to check Bsky, your comics and general prescence is one of my main reasons to have it! I myself get invested on the video)
Most podcasts can still be found by RSS, which can be a bit confusing and feels very early internet-y. But once you know how to use it, it's basically a feed of the stuff you subscribed without an provider who curates for you.
Very real. May I recommend Flawed Peacock, Earlybird, Sagan Hawkes and Majulaar? Some great stuff on their channels. Also huge recommendation for Night Mind if you enjoy unfiction - his voice alone is fantastic to listen to.
In case you ever need more Majuular has an entire retrospective of the Ultima games. Perfect for building a factory or laying down fire upon heaps of demons
History lectures. There's a few lovely history YouTube channels where the presenter has such a nice smooth voice that I can do the long repetitive parts of a handcraft project and learn at the same time. Lovely!
Honestly, I usually put on an "Internet Drama" takedown that's 3 years old and no one even remembers the details of anymore. Swoop does excellent deep dives.
Lathland, whenever he uploads lol.
I love putting his videos on, I watch every second of them, though I don't enjoy him playing Stellaris personally.
His adventure series as of late has been a godsend, hour long videos that I can just put on and enjoy his wonderful insanity.
People performing deep dives on things close to them are always the most enjoyable to watch- you can practically feel the passion they have for exploring the most unimportant-to-us minutiae, and there's something special about that to witness.
Can say I've only encountered this once and it was Hbomberguy's review of Pathologic. Sounds like a horrible game to play but it was a wonderful 2 hour video.

Seriously though, I tend to queue up like 7 or 8 videos before stating anything I know I'll be doing for awhile.
...then at the end of a video I end up invalidating the list but just picking another video from the same channel...

Voiceover: he never finished his Excel work
If that's too distracting there's always a 7 hour video of @raynarvaezjr.sucks literally watching paint dry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kj43TznS-Es

And I'm like "I'll put it in the maybe pile and comeback to it if I don't find something better."
