They won't stop at trans kids. 'Hormones for minors' will very soon become a ban on birth control too. Teen pregnancy, PCOS, endo, acne, heavy/painful periods will all be foisted on kids. And no abortions.

Labour under Starmer have shifted so far to the right that they're basically just slower Tories now. Which *is* technically better as we get to the same results over a longer timescale, but they're both shit.

The thing to me is, while this may be a continuation of a direction set by the tories, its labour who is enacting it. its Starmer and Labour that have made it illegal for kids to be trans, not anyone else. More damage done to trans people in less than a month than conservatives could do in a decade

It's only the last 5 years that the Tories even really jumped on the transphobia train as a party platform though. Theresa May, for all her faults, was still, by and large, supportive of trans rights with plans to introduce self ID etc

I am terrified for my adult nonbinary cousin, let alone the trans kids.

I had a trans friend tell me like...three years ago...he was considering moving to the UK. I told him not to because it was going to be worse. I'm SO mad I'm right.

I think part of the issue is who is seeing and responding to what. As an example, the post below (itself a quote-post on @secretaboutbox.bsky.social's post with the article) has been reposted by just two others (with 0 likes) despite me reposting at several different times to my 500 or so followers.

I've also tried reposting the article in between pet pic posts, in between reposts on other articles on trans issues (e.g., prison treatment), etc. That doesn't seem to make much difference. (If anything, people just seem to skip to pets or mute/unfollow.)

Still, it's no excuse for staying quiet.

One last thought I had is that I (and some other cis people who care) might just be muted by a lot of people on here for a number of reasons (e.g., I've posted a fair amount about the Israel's genocide of Palestinians, I dislike both major parties, I repost articles and pet pics). That could be it.
