Trump is reportedly targeting the slavery section of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture for possible removal. “Black people are not going to stand for this,” says Nikole Hannah Jones, the author of the 1619 Project.

I’m white as a blizzard and neither do I. Our country did what it did and we need not forget that enslaved people are part of our who we are. Sometimes history is horrific, but that doesn’t mean we hide it.
“To erase or minimize the slavery and freedom part of that story is to create a fantasy of how we got here. We literally would not be in the United States without slavery,” said Nikole Hannah Jones, who created the 1619 Project.
Wishing all the best to Lonnie Bunch, head of the Smithsonian.
"So, some stuff happened and then black people spontaneously invented the Blues, Gospel, Jazz, and Rock n' Roll without generational trauma. White Rock musicians were not inspired by the suffering of black Blues musicians because that never happened. Also, who's Harriet Tubman? That never happened!"
Black folks have been sidelining themselves until they see white folks step up. Rightly so. This frustrates the admin who finds it easier to attack black protesters than suburban wine moms. This is a transparent attempt to force the issue.
FFS! This is truly fascist supremacist disgusting racism due to this ideology to protect white America due its decline with a multi ethnic population mix growing. The insecurity of these fascist supremacists corrupt criminals. The utter hypocrisy when native Americans are true Americans, not white!
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone in DC can carefully document what's there before and after. Both to preserve the history, and to bring into relief the truths the regime is trying to bury.
I tell u what... let me know when they send the goons in to get the exhibit up. I'm ready for my generation Pettus Bridge moment. Only difference being imma beat some goons back
It's time for another million person march. It's another Selma moment and it must be non violent. They must be seen as the violent transgressors. I'll be there.
It is not only black people who will not stand for it. This is the history of our nation. The facts of slavery are hard. But we need to know them. Sick people like Trump and all of the MAGAs may want to change history, but we must not let them.
So, we're going to go from expunging web text to scrapping Emmet Till's casket? Will they force them to put it in storage or "deaccession" it? If Smithsonian staff defy it, what will be the consequences?
On our most recent visit I saw school trips of white kids wearing MAGA hats in that dark, cramped lower concourse. The same level that displays the abject cruelty and violence inflicted on enslaved people ALSO teaches visitors why "whiteness" came to exist.
I'm visiting DC in June and am getting my tickets ASAP before they try to mess with undisputed history. He should go back to Trump tower rather than trying to remake the world in his delusions.
OMGAmerica. Stand up, this would be a desecration of the struggle for human rights. If we fail to remember all our history. then we are doomed to repeat it.We still have much to do to make up for the past and this evil dismantling will take us back too far. Now weto march with the ghosts of history.
Unfortunately I think that’s the point, America will explode this summer right in time for his kim jong trump military parade on his birthday, with the military in the streets and lots of protests, probably use the insurrection act and declare martial law, let’s see if the military shoots 😡 🤦♂️
If anyone has been there is a very intentional constriction, release / confinement, freedom element built into the museum timeline. You feel it. It’s incredibly moving, and something this monstrous piece of shit will never be bothered to contemplate.
That mf will not get away with that. I need to see more Black folk at the protests where I live. At the 4/5 protest a very nice lady have me a "won't be erased" button that I wore on my hat.
Yes, more black people please. We are all under attack from these deranged evil lunatics. We absolutely have to stand against them, and it will take all of us.
I know we Black women said we'd sit this one out but we can't. The racist regime is about to destroy our lives. I've been trying to recruit folks, but it ain't working.
The administration has been attacking black history, , women's history, pretty much everyone except white nationalists. I hope you start to see some success.
Gov. Trump’s entire platform is a white grievance fantasy draped in govt power and historical amnesia.
He’s not preserving America—he’s rewriting it into a white supremacist bedtime story.
Because if you erase how this country was built, you silence the demands for justice in how it still operates.

Het the word out that the #generalstrikeus is coming.
https://Generalstrikeus.com has a huge collection of resources and ways to get involved (even without a commitment to strike).
#WeThePeople will not stand for this.
Also, is he trying to distract us again?
It is a sick dare to America to do something.
🍊🧀 🐡can want to act as if slavery never happened or that thru prisons it isn’t still happening, but he is dead wrong.
And THAT is what MAGA is so scared of.
Their presence was jarring. I saw other people visibly taken aback as well. I realized that was the point.
People coming out of the Emmitt Till exhibit had to see these white boys in MAGA hats. Awful.
The expected reaction to that headline needs to be the same as the real reaction if this headline becomes closer to reality.
