I think they're all a bit bitter compared to cultivated mints. Incanum is nice if you have a sufficiently dry spot. A quick blanch might improve the flavor.

It is a bit powdery mildew prone BUT you can get cultivars that are less so if cultivars are your thing.

A bit! I have some in the front of the yard. I parked my car there during COVID and the interior of the car caught powdery mildew from the monarda!

Native blueberry, strawberry nearby never got it tho.

Also, try to water in am only so the plant doesn’t spend the night w wet leaves. You might also check out the heavy pruning/trellising modes as this promotes good air flow.

If you want to find great value and variety, check out https://superseeds.com I’ve been buying from them for years and they get some of their stock from Johnnys but are cheaper.
I really recommend ‘Juliet’ tomatoes. It’s an F1 Hybrid but is resistant to disease and has one of the best tasting fruits.

I have bought from him before, but after I spent $100 on seeds last year. I had asked him why he’s allowing so much religious talk on his socials. I got blocked instantly.

Powdery mildew is tough-the best practice is to provide better air circulation by pruning back existing foliage, spacing plants further away from each other, and using drip irrigation or bottom watering. Preventative spraying with Neem Oil can help. Early Girl, BrandyWise and Sungold tomatoes are

resistant.It’s very important to aggressively prune suckers from tomatoes to improve circulation. Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and chives for herbs. I like the Princess Anne rose from David Austin and have several. Very resistant to many diseases/fungal infections. Good luck!

Tomatoes: I have good luck managing powdery mildew w/neem oil. Resistant basil (“DMR”) is a must-have & will last til frost. Re flowers…roses = relentless beetles/can’t win. Cosmos & gomphrena are pretty & hearty. Matt's Wild Cherry tomatoes are close to wild type. They're resistant to nearly everything, prolific, and delicious. They are also tiny, the size of blueberries. If you want to be sure you have *some* tomatoes in a bad year, plant these.

Don't know about roses, but granadero tomatoes are resistant to a lot of issues incl powdery mildew. They are like a plum/roma type so good for sauce or eating.

No seed recs, but take a little bit of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap, mix maybe two tablespoons to a gallon of water, and spray your garden down once a month of so.

Local tv garden expert said powdery mildew on tomatoes comes from overhead watering. I tried only watering at the base of the plants and it worked a treat. Good luck!
