Side note about high tariffs is whether they will function analogously to the Covid supply chain shocks. There may not be absolute scarcity as when the ships stopped sailing, but will there be relative scarcity as the costs of various manufacturing inputs, among other things, soar?

Is one difference that low rates during the height of the pandemic drove high spending which exacerbated scarcity whereas now with rates stubbornly high (eg I've decided against a HELOC to pay for work on my house) there will be less demand for, at least, some construction goods? Probably marginal.
